He's too busy planning the end of the world to be worried about trivial stuff like whether you beleive or not.

I think He's supposedly resting up for the great battle.

We also have many passages in the Bible (especially in prayers, e.g. the Psalms) where the believers refer to Yhwh's miracles "of old" and complain that he doesn't act likewise now, which is quite revealing. See Psalms 44 and 89 for instance.

    You're the best, Narkissos.

What are your thoughts on this, Brother A?

It's interesting that the miracles had no long-term beneficial effect on people's faith. The Israelites began worshipping a golden calf after they crossed the Red Sea, et cetera.

I often wondered why there was no account of what Lazarus experienced after his death. The scriptures say there was a plot to kill him and I assume they carried it out in short order.

If there were miracles today, I would assume they wouldn't really make any difference in people's lives.

Then what would be the point of them?

Modern religion is skillfully crafted to NOT require miracles. You pray for things that are LIKELY to happen anyway, and even if they don't, then god still answered your prayer, it just wasn't what you wanted.

Do you think that crap would fly with Moses?

*Moses hits rock with stick and nothing comes out*

Moses: "Ah, Yahweh has heard your request, and said 'no'."

*Moses builds copper snake but nobody recovers.*

Moses: "He didn't look HARD enough!"

*Raises his staff, but the sea doesn't part.*

Moses: "I guess we're all going to have to get back to work!"

Anyway, here is the lame WT response... A huge question like this earned it's own four paragraph box in a Watchtower. (Only two of which are actually there to answer the question.)

    *** w05 2/15 p. 4 Miracles—Fact or Fiction? ***

WHY CERTAIN MIRACLES NO LONGER OCCUR

Various kinds of miracles are mentioned in the Bible. (Exodus 7:19-21; 1 Kings 17:1-7; 18:22-38; 2 Kings 5:1-14; Matthew 8:24-27; Luke 17:11-19; John 2:1-11; 9:1-7) Many of these miracles served to identify Jesus as the Messiah, and they proved that he had God’s backing. Jesus’ early followers displayed miraculous gifts, such as speaking in tongues and discernment of inspired utterances. (Acts 2:5-12; 1 Corinthians 12:28-31) Such miraculous gifts were useful for the Christian congregation during its infancy. How so?

Well, copies of the Scriptures were few. Usually, only the rich possessed scrolls or books of any sort. In pagan lands, there was no knowledge of the Bible or of its Author, Jehovah. Christian teaching had to be conveyed by word of mouth. The miraculous gifts were useful in showing that God was using the Christian congregation.

But Paul explained that these gifts would pass away once they were no longer needed. “Whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away with.”—1 Corinthians 13:8-10.

Today, people have access to Bibles, as well as concordances and encyclopedias. Over six million trained Christians are assisting others to gain divine knowledge based on the Bible. Thus, miracles are no longer necessary to attest to Jesus Christ as God’s appointed Deliverer or to provide proof that Jehovah is backing his servants.

So, you don't need miracles, because you have the Bible... Duh! What more could you ask for?

Hey, if an angel apeared to JESUS when he prayed in order to boost his confidence, then certainly the Bible isn't enough for us.

Why didn't God miraculously free all the Witnesses from Nazi camps? (The end of the war doesn't count, the Jews, homosexuals and all the other prisoners were free then as well.)

If god kept the Israelites sandals from wearing out, then why doesn't he keep JW cars from running out of gas?

Another question is: Why don't demons or angels materialize or apear to people anymore? Why don't they possess people? Or speak to people like they used to?

    Jehovah was a "nationalistic" God.
The Israelites needed a God like all the other nations
so they would be able to be occupy and defend their territory.
Occupying a territory means you have to kill others who try to impinge on your boundaries.

Jesus was sent to the earth (trans-dimensional travel/ not REALLY virgin birth)
to change people from a nationalistic orientation
    to a planetary/universal paradigm.
The capital of the earth is the New Jerusalem - the Jerusalem above.

The objective of miracles was to give a degree of potency to the new model.
Miracles were just a way to guarantee the new model would be recorded in the
best way humans had of transferring information to future generations - written word.

It was necessary for the initial effort to fail so
that a new nation could be formed at the critical
point in history where that new nation would serve
as an example of the survival value of a
    international brotherhood free of nationalism.

The objective was never to convince the whole world
by means of miracles (cognitive bribes). Humans have to
experience the contrast between destructive nationalism
and the conserving power of cooperation.

the reason the god of the bible dosent make sense is because he dosent really care, we are one of many experiments, spread across the many other solar systems and other planets, like ant farm for the kids, some will do better, some will do worse, you dont really believe this is the only inhabited planet , do you?

why else would he make so many millons of other systems? for us to look up in the sky at?

i think not! he experiments with us all the time, what will happen if i do this?

and what if i show them i am real tday?

what if i flood the earth?

    interesting! now

what if i destroy a bunch of them? how do we feel if we step on a bunch of ants? nothing much?

guess what, its the same for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got a better answer? love to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only was the proof manifest in the miracle of the modern day congregation, but it was also manifest in "that which is partial shall be made complete." Or some such shite. It meant the Bible. So, proof is supposed to be the modern day organization and the Bible. With those proofs, who needs miracles?
