Perhaps Muhammed the stuffed teddy bear and Jesus Christ the stuffed armadillo should fight this out between them. The winner can take over the world.

Islam deserves dissing! Have you all read the Koran, really read it? How about their second book, the one nobody talks about that is like the Book of Mormon to islam? The name of the book? Hadith! Read it if you dare. It is the muslim equivalent of Mein Kampf! Written by Mohammed (words of the prophet vice the words of god which is the Koran) Before you answer me back in disgust or shock..... read the book, THEN talk to me.

I have read both cover to cover. I think you will find a new definition for hateful if you do! Read the Hadith first..... it is just "wonderful."

Until the West stands up and says our way is better instead of trying to understand and accommodate this backwards way of life things will continue to deteriorate.

Undoubtedly so. These books are the C7th equivalent of the Old Testament. Same bigotry, same mindless pleadings to an insane cause, same emotional and spiritual terrorism. It stuns me that Christians can vomit disgust over the Koran book when their own history is built on a book with far too many similarities. They certainly have much more in common with each other than either have with Mein Kampf Be patient with the Koran and Hadith. They will come of age, just like the Old Testament did. HS

Hillary, I don't "vomit" this material in deference to any other religion. But.... that argument concerning the long-past Judeo-Christian ethic doesn't wash. Why not? Because EVERYONE other than islam seems to have learned the lesson. So why didn't they look at the bad example that was initially set by the Judeo-Christians and say to themselves, "not here, not us."

I find the tactic of redirecting the conversation to be fairly common. This is about islam, not any other religion. Please pardon me for being forceful about it, but that is a fact. I don't care WHAT the Jews or Christians did centuries ago..... I care about this century. We don't have the time to let them figure this out for themselves..... they have or will have nukes, germs, chemicals aplenty. No time left to be "patient" with a religion that is based, fundamentally, on what we would ALL call extremism.

Again, read the Hadith. It is nasty beyond belief. Look at who it says it is ok to kill, specifically who it says. It names groups of people specifically. And it sounds an awful lot like Mein Kampf..... more than the bible ever did, that is for sure.

As I have no idea whether you are Christian or not, my post was not directed at you personally, but just to the points that you try to make. On the matter of religious comparisons, of course my argument washes. There would have been no Koran without the Judeo-Christain Bible as the two are interwoven and in numerous ways as I have already noted blend without problems. Your rebutal that "they should have learned" from, presumably the mistakes made by other religions, is quite laughable and shows a complete ignorance of the evolution of social movements.

You should care very much what Jews and Christians did centuries ago, because it directly impacts the contemporary behaviors of the Muslim faith which so irks you. Understanding yesterday is the primary means at our disposal for understanding today. The Christian religion is built on historical religious attitudes that you find repulsive in other religions who have not had the benefit of a modern social world to mould them. Invariably the modern world will impact the Islamic faith and it will either learn, as did mainstream Christianity, to either adapt or die.

Again, read the Hadith. It is nasty beyond belief. Look at who it says it is ok to kill, specifically who it says. It names groups of people specifically. And it sounds an awful lot like Mein Kampf..... more than the bible ever did, that is for sure.

Is your faith founded on the Bible? If so, and this is the main thrust of my point, I would put it to you that the Bible is also nasty beyond belief in numerous places as I have already noted. Genocide at the hands of God over hundreds of years, proud claims to feel no compassion for "virgins, old men and children" who were slaughtered by "Gods People" as an act of "loyal love" to him is exactly what "Mein Kampf" intoned. What you are looking at in Islam is the Judeo-Christian's baby brother. I am not defending the Muslim faith against any other faith. As far as I am concerned the world would be a better places without any of them, but you cannot walk away from history on this issue, because you are dealing with history. Why do you think that the Islamic fundamentalists describe the invasion of Iraq as the new "Crusades", or the IRA dwelt on historical injustices that took place hundreds of years, or the Albanians of a genocide that tookplace one hundred years ago? The reason is that history is alive and the reality is that one needs to deal with it with humility if the world wants to move on. Attacking one religion, while ignoring both its social and historical framework, while clinging to another religion while ignoring both its social and historical framework is displaying an ignorance that can only lead to more blood in the streets. I am not singling you out here, but making a general point. HS

We can't even control our own religious nuts, what makes anyone think we can take on their's? Bad bad bad idea. IT does need to be dealt with, but not in a way that will make the situation worse, not head on. If we didn't have to do business with these people, if we could just leave them to their own garbage, then if and when they figure it out and wake up is theri deal and not our problem.

Is "Meme" a good word to describe Islam?

And that teacher, what the hell was she/he thinking? Sure, I can understand letting it slip becaue every other little boy is named some variant of Muhammed, but I think the teacher showed a lack of good judgement.

Its a good job I'm not in charge of the UK - I'd have dispatched the SAS by now.

Mind you the larger issue is why aren't the UN over there now protecting the millions who are displaced and being destroyed in that part of the world by an utterly backward and corrupt set of nations.
