What more do you want from me, rat?
Now, now, JH...you truncated my statement, you bad boy you! LOL
based on a depth of relationship that goes far beyond a mere discussion board environment.
Yes, indeed, the db environment has provided opportunities for me to get to know people beyond my wildest imaginations. But it has not been simply because of the db environment: it's based on personal interactions of a more thorough nature. Thus my somewhat tarnished reputation as being a phone-call kind of guy. In fact, I tried to call you earlier this week, but the number I have has been disconnected.
Heck, if you and I talk again, maybe I'd decide to even die for you!
awww, that's so nice of you onacruse
Now, now, JH ...you truncated my statement, you bad boy you! LOL
I think I did, but it wasn't intentional
I have deep respect for many people here, and would do a lot for them if they needed whatever a rat can give.
JH- I'd give my life for you if circumstances dictated it ! Or anybody else on the board if their was no other options
It's funny you would bring this up, as it's been on my mind for some time now.
I would *risk* my life for nearly anyone. That's a scenario where I attempt a rescue where there is a reason to believe success is possible and we will both survive.
But a true *give* of my life? In a sense, it isn't mine to give. I have kids, friends, people that depend on me and expect me to be there for them. I'm not sure I could make that trade.
In real life though, it's the risk and not the trade that we're asked to make. So you can all expect me to leap into the breach for you. (Even you, JH)

I didn't expect so many nice replies.
I recall when i was in my late teens, early 20's, I was in a bar and slashed my had on a broken glass more or less accidentally, and i was bleeding to death, and the bar tender drove me to the hospital in his car very rapidly. Prior to that, he put something tight around my arm to slow down the bleeding. He saved my life.
I was young and stupid and was squeezing the glass of beer as tight as i could, thinking it would crack slightly....What was i thinking...
Got to the hospital and they operated my hand and thought I wouldn't be able to use it anymore because of the nerve damage.
My hand is ok today, and that bar tender saved my life by driving me to the hospital in his truck as fast as he could, not looking at the blood dripping inside his truck...
People tend to act rapidly when someone is in danger of dying.
Knock Knock makes a good point.
A witness give up their life for another witness? Hard to imagine what with all the red tape and all. I mean, first they'd have to confirm the soon to be victims organizational status and by the time they even begin that process....uh, too late. A generalization of course but predominately true.
If a witness will not receive everlasting life because he doesn't follow Jesus' example
of using his life to gain the life of another, then he would have to do it.
But first he would need the congregation elders for that other JW to verify that he's in
good standing. He doesn't have to be in great standing, but good standing. If he's
not selling magazines or remembering to ask for donations, then what good is he to
Jehovah's organization? If he's on reproof, that's okay, as long as he sells magazines.
If the fellow is unbaptized, the JW would be duty-bound to give his life, so that the
new guy could be counted in the Service Year for next year.
A wise man once said "Unless you are prepared to completely remove the need for help , then any help you give merely prolongs the suffering."
If my death would save the complete life of another individual I would slice my wrists as I post.
Would you give your life for a JWD poster ?
HAHAHA!!!
I give my freaking keystrokes here. My undeserved kindness is more than sufficient...

In the moment of a choice between my life and theirs I would find it hard to let them die! I'm not sure I have it in me to let them!
