I posted way back in September that my dog had two bad cancers in her mouth. We took her into the Ontario Vet College for available treatment options. This is a world class, top notch Veterinary teaching college. We were given a couple of options, and decided to have radiation treatment on the melanoma. The other cancer they said they weren't going to offer any treatment for, it probably wouldn't be a factor in the time she had left, so why put her through anything else.
About a month ago, a tumour regrew on her top jaw, we had it removed and sent for testing (we did this outside of the college, and now I'm sooo glad we did, I could smell a coverup maybe happening). Turns out it was the cancer the college had said was on her bottom jaw and had spread to the top jaw. My vet said she had never seen that type of cancer jump that way, and has been consulting experts left right and centre.
She called me this morning and said they radiated the wrong part of the jaw!! They should have radiated the top jaw, not the bottom jaw!
She's faxed my office a copy of all the reports, records of the calls she's made yesterday trying to sort all this out. The top vet, the head honcho at the vet college has signed all the reports for the dog. She said he's going to "shit his pants" when he see's everything!
I can't believe, from all the people that saw the dog, students, lab techs, oncologists, surgeons, that NOBODY noticed!!
I know this is just a dog, and people have far worse happen to them in the medical system, but it still pisses me off!
Thanks for letting me vent!
