    Nvrgbk,

I dont know if you ever read the bible or not. But the bible says God chooses the king.

It doesnt take much of a stretch to say God chooses the president.

The people of Amerika did not choose George Bush the first time.

Who knows what Jehobers up to?

I'm not saying I belive in the bible God or Jehober, but it does say God chooses the King in the old testament. I think it proverbs or Psalms or one of those other old books. But its in there, if you get the right translation. I could look it up but I'm too busy drinking tonight.

Anyway the right wing radical bible thumping fundamentalist will most likely elect the next president.

    I hope not.

But they did give us W and his Daddy. For every step man takes forward the Christians take us back 100.

Well I believe in the military

Which one, J-G? The one in your country of residence? Or you believe in all the "militaries"?

You sarcasticly wrote: You're so righteous and you're surrounded by filth and depravity.

No, apart from the righteousness imputed to me by God because of what Jesus did for us all, I'm very unrighteous. For "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." And I fall short of the glory of God every minute of every day. (Rom. 3:22,23) However, in order to continue to receive God's forgiveness God requires us to do our best to live righteously. And that I do. When I fail God forgives me. Christians are not perfect. They are just forgiven.

I'm pleased that you picked up on my sarcasm. Your comment reads like the Watchtower's explanation of salvation.

God has requirements for people to receive something that is undeserved? Requirements must be met to receive a gift?

The state's foster care system often leaves much to be desired. But in it a kid at least has a chance of being raised by the moral code of a higher authority.

Got news for ya kiddo, gays can become foster parents and in many cases can adopt children. I know plenty of very moral gay people and couples. They are much kinder than a lot of hetero/ultra-religious couples. I just had to pack Julian up and leave my brothers due to their extreme fundamentalist attitudes towards child raising and their interference with Julian. They were very arrogant, condescending and meddlesome. They tried to take over my role as his guardian/parent.

I want to add that when Mickey left my care to go into a temporary foster home, he called me and was very uspet that the family did not take him to church. Then the next foster home he went to in Connecticut, a very "christian" family, he was molested and had to be moved to another home.

Not all of us Chrisitans believe the Bible we have to day is completely written or inspired of God. I have a lot of gay, chrisitan friends. They take Christ's example very seriously and follow in his footsteps. I think it's interesting that Christ never mentioned homosexuality. I'm pretty sure if it was such a big deal to God, that Christ would have been quoted on it.

THIS IS MAKING HEADLINES ALL OVER!!!
Huckabee wanted to isolate AIDS patients

By ANDREW DeMILLO, Associated Press Writer 17 minutes ago

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mike Huckabee once advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, opposed increased federal funding in the search for a cure and said homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk."

As a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in 1992, Huckabee answered 229 questions submitted to him by The Associated Press. Besides a quarantine, Huckabee suggested that Hollywood celebrities fund AIDS research from their own pockets, rather than federal health agencies.

"If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague," Huckabee wrote.

"It is difficult to understand the public policy towards AIDS . It is the first time in the history of civilization in which the carriers of a genuine plague have not been isolated from the general population, and in which this deadly disease for which there is no cure is being treated as a civil rights issue instead of the true health crisis it represents."

The AP submitted the questionnaire to both candidates; only Huckabee responded. Incumbent Sen. Dale Bumpers won his four term; Huckabee was elected lieutenant governor the next year and became governor in 1996.

When asked about AIDS research in 1992, Huckabee complained that AIDS research received an unfair share of federal dollars when compared to cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

"In light of the extraordinary funds already being given for AIDS research, it does not seem that additional federal spending can be justified," Huckabee wrote. "An alternative would be to request that multimillionaire celebrities, such as Elizabeth Taylor (,) Madonna and others who are pushing for more AIDS funding be encouraged to give out of their own personal treasuries increased amounts for AIDS research."

Huckabee did not return messages left with his campaign.

When Huckabee wrote his answers in 1992, it was common knowledge that AIDS could not be spread by casual contact. In late 1991, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there were 195,718 AIDS patients in the country and that 126,159 people had died from the syndrome.

The nation had an increased awareness of AIDS at the time because pro basketball star Magic Johnson had recently disclosed he carried the virus responsible for it. Johnson retired but returned to the NBA briefly during the 1994-95 season.

Since becoming a presidential candidate this year, Huckabee has supported increased federal funding for AIDS research through the National Institutes of Health .

"My administration will be the first to have an overarching strategy for dealing with HIV and AIDS here in the United States, with a partnership between the public and private sectors that will provide necessary financing and a realistic path toward our goals," Huckabee said in a statement posted on his campaign Web site last month.

Also in the wide-ranging AP questionnaire in 1992, Huckabee said, "I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk."

A Southern Baptist preacher, Huckabee has been a favorite among social conservatives for his vocal opposition to gay marriage. In 2003, Huckabee said that the U.S. Supreme Court was probably right to strike down anti-sodomy laws, but that states still should be able to restrict things such as gay marriage or domestic partner benefits.

"What people do in the privacy of their own lives as adults is their business," Huckabee said. "If they bring it into the public square and ask me as a taxpayer to support it or to endorse it, then it becomes a matter of public discussion and discourse."

    NVR,

You wrote: God has requirements for people to receive something that is undeserved? Requirements must be met to receive a gift?

The first gift, God's forgiveness for all our previous unrighteousness before coming to know Christ, is free without conditions. Additional gifts, God's continued forgiveness of all our unrighteousness after we come to know Christ, has conditions. That we try our best to live righteously. As Romans 10:26 tells us, "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left."

If your wife cheats on you and she asks you for your forgiveness and you freely give it to her, will you continue to forgive her if she then continues to cheat on you, apparently making no effort to even try to be faithful to you, and offers you no further apologies when she does cheat on you? I don't think so.

    What,

Huck's statements about AIDS and homosexuality being sinful will only be found objectionable by the far left who are not going to vote for him anyway.

The LAW that governs this land is the CONSITUTION ... I would vote for someone who supports and has supported it. The only candidate is RON PAUL.

The BIBLE does not govern the U.S. and it never should. Bible thumpers should be in the Church ... not in the OVAL office.

How is what you describe different from one trying to establish their own righteousness?

NVR, You asked: How is what you describe different from one trying to establish their own righteousness? Any honest person knows there is no point in trying to establish their own righteousness. For they well know that there is never a day that goes by that they do not "fall short of the glory of God" in some way. (Rom. 3:23) Besides, when it comes to being able to do enough good works to earn our own salvation, the Bible tells us that, "all our righteous acts are like filthy rags." (Isaiah 64:6) Christians do not give God their best in an attempt to establish their own righteousness, and thus somehow earn their own salvation. Christians give God their best because they love God. Why? Because "He first loved us." (1 John 4:19)
