The Most Influential Events in Your Lifetime:
Finding Buddhism (which helps me cope with events such as the tragic one above), including the meeting of some incredible people, such as the Ven. Oung Mean, a senior Cambodian monk and my teacher and friend in the 1970s. He is now sadly deceased). Attending the Buddhist Society of Manchester, where I met two influential people in my life - Russel Williams and Mike Warren.
Also, reading The Buddha's Way, What the Buddha Taught, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, Lotus in the Fire - the Healing Power of Zen, The Healing Power of Mind, The Wheel of Life and Death, The Three Pillars of Zen, Ramana Maharshi and the Path of Self-Knowledge, How to make a Wildlife Garden and The Bible Unearthed.
Finding JWD.
Coming perilously close to death. It put things right into perspective.

My 3 entries were really pure life changers. They changed utterly and without recourse the person who I was at the time for the worst and forever in terms of my personal self esteem and innate need to help and love others. It made me equally aware of how it forever changed others perception of the damaged ME that I feel I have been carrying through life and which at each of those three points was in a state of flux with a potential to move into a better lifestyle for myself and those around me - but sadly was floored. In this respect they have damaged me beyond recognition. I am become the ruin I have been seeking to escape from since the first knockdown. It tells me yougsters and people in general need liberating because repeated put downs become endemic in the life of the one being put down till they do not know how to learn how to build on the opportunities that appear. Like WTBTS advise which prunes a persons potential rather than inspires growth till the person limits themselves. It's no wonder my mind saw its own reflection in their philosophy when it did! And life seemed to do the same after I'd escaped their clutches! To me life is a black hole with a picture of Earth hanging on the wall, knowing somewhere family and lost friends are on it! Surreal! My only joy and ambition is to die! A daily truth! Interesting what life does to us - intriguing really albeit pointless !
