I agree with sad emo. The answer was right under your nose.

When you went out alone and prayed and felt peace, that was your way of worshiping God. And he imparted his peace to you. You can see God in creation and all its beauty. You do not have to join a religious organization that tells you how to and when to worship your creator. The heavens declare his glory and the earth is his footstool. We are surrounded by God and he is in all things and his spirit flows thru all things. I think you were doing it right the first time. Sorry you got sidetracked off your road to peace with God by the Witnesses. It happens to the best of us, it even happened to me.

I was at peace with God, admiring him and his glory in creation since I was 12. But I got duped into following the lie which is you need someone or some organization to tell you what to do in order to be "right" with God. You do not! Like emo said God is a spirit and we worship in spirit and truth. Your simple way of worshiping is something beautiful to God and he fully accepts it as such. Who is man to tell you otherwise?

Many believe it is not that simple but that is also a lie. It is that simple. For God is not partial and accepts any man who is righteous. Righteousness has nothing at all to do with bible knowledge or sticking to a certain moral code. it has to do with your inner heart condition. And your heart is certainly in the right place.

Now, I am not saying that all organized religions are bad. But the majority of them, imo, take people away from the creator and not towards him. They emphasis the organization more than God and that is where the problem lies. I believe organized religion is a product of the Devil and seeks to get us to worship "it" rather than God. But that is for another time. Don't want to steal your thread.

Have you ever tried to be one alone with God like you did before becoming a Witness? Peace, Lilly

I am undecided, if a God exists, he is not busy taking care of this planet or its inhabitants. In fact, its like a parent who gives birth and deserts a helpless child and says, good luck! If he doesn't exist, then we aren't helpless and we have the power to change ourselves for the better and create the future we want. I prefer to think we are not helpless. Until he/she/it comes out of the sky and says hey I am here and I see it with my own eyes, it doesn't bother me too much at all. I prefer to focus on what is here and now, my life, my loved ones.

If he exists, why would he do that to me? I can't believe in or respect a God like that.

I also can't let go of the belief that we were designed or created.

    I hear you.

Your situation sounds just like mine.

It would be nice if somebody could give us some answers.

Hm well I figure like this:

Either way it doesn't matter to me. IF there is a God, the God I imagine, wants us to love our neighbor and to be kind and to be peaceful. That would be our worship, so to speak. I don't think he gives a flying you know what about the details that many people worry about.

If there isn't a God, how can just loving our neighbor and working for peace and understanding and compassion be a bad thing?

I think the key word (that I learned the hard way) is:

    Work. Action. Moving.

Not just sitting there waiting for someone else to take care of things.

If there's a God, I think he or SHE would be pretty happy with a person who works towards love and peace and well etc etc.

If there isn't a God, then damn, the more we work towards these things as a global community, maybe, just maybe in some far off century we will have acheived it.
And maybe I won't be looking down from heaven, but right now I can be aware of the fact that I am doing my part as a global citizen.

    hope that makes sense

Athiest here: We're not that special, just specs. We think we're special cause we're, well, us! In the big picture we're pretty insignificant.

AWAKE- Hello miss watching , who is awakening! How are you ? Well, sis, I understand your dillemma ! I was raised as you know , in the witnesses till age 44, 4 years ago, then left it, cold turkey ! I am in your undecided category too, and I am able to live with it quite fine as I claim to now be a agnostic, or believing some higher power is up there watching over things, seasons, animals, climate , and us too even . But I find comfort in that because of the hypocrisy I see in all religions , I don't need to feel that a God or that power is approving any of the religions on this planet. Whatever that power up there is, I think it " it" would puke looking at all the religions on earth today. I might even be a weak atheist, I don't know . But I do feel man is inherently good , and any deviation from that is solely that particular individuals own doing. I can't make you good. You can't make me good. But you can make you good, and that my friend is empowering ! So, I choose to be happy , because it feels good, feels right, and brings me joy by helping others ! Plus helps me get through the God or no God thing, my wife Mrs. Flipper also basically subscribes to this view too. We don't believe in a pie in the sky, just believe in ourselves. I feel it makes a hell of a lot of sense. Hope that helps a bit, hey just the ramblings of a dolphin, what do I know ? Peace out sis, hang in there lady, wife and I care ! Peace, Mr. Flipper
