Without a child, otherwise your comments could be mine.

I was at a low in my life (it's been posted as a thread). I needed
guidance and I thought that God was giving me guidance.
This must have been what God wanted me to do- a higher purpose
    in life.

When I discovered that it was a lie and a scheme to keep WTS in the
black, and that I had been severely warped in my thinking just to sell
magazines, I was mad at God. (Now I will steal your words)
I have been going back and forth .... between thinking he can't possibly
exist to hating him if he does.

I WAS SINCERE FOR PETE'S SAKE!

If he exists, why would he do that to me?

I now say, "If God has a will for me to do, he will have to personally tell me
    what it is."

    - "ATHEISTS - How can you believe that we have no designer or creator as amazing as humans are?"

Easy. Nobody could be that much of an asshole to sit there and avoid me while I was begging him daily for help when I was getting the shit beaten out of me at home and at school. Then I developed PTSD. God really didn't come through for me.

Mind you, I didn't just wake up one day and say "screw this, God doesn't exist". It was a pretty slow teardown. Years later when I found out the truth to the JWs, that started the ball rolling. Posts by other atheists on here helped me make my decision.

My whole thing is, I'll find out when I die. But for now, I'll enjoy my time on earth.

UNDECIDED - How do you live with that?

Well, I just keep going each day the best I can and maybe some day I will decide something.

You started on the wrong footing ! God doesn' t answer the prayers of people who are in the false religions . He would be otherwise approving such religions which is impossible.

God listens to the prayers of his people . God doesn't listen to sinners . Read the Bible.

If He listened to Catholics why not to Protestants and so on and so on as we have many christian denominations ! God approves of the true religion.

I have explained the way to salvation adding the post to my old post on 144000 servants.Check member directory - OBVES - history of my posting.

Forgive me for my ruminations. I have had some similar issues with God lately, so I understand where you are coming from.

Recently I started learning more about earth religions-AKA paganism. You know that the Bible and Christians (generally) claim that man has been here for a limited period of time-6-12 thousand years or so. There is evidence of 'paganism' that goes back before the evidence or claims of Christianity or Judaism.

People, human beings, have been acknowledging creation for 10's of thousands of years with various forms of religion such as shamanism, animism. . .all the isms that predate the acknowledged history of men, biblically. Information I have seen show religion that predated any type of religion even acknowledged in the Bible. Baal is a later form of 'paganism'. Humans have for tens of millenia been honoring the nature that sustains him, trying to placate the nature that frightens or threatens him. God as we know it, simply seems to be a more 'cultured' idea of God than they had in 6,000 years ago-or 30,0000 years ago. We still try to placate our version, we fear him, we thank him. Thats all the pagans do, that is what Christians do. We give him a different name, a different form.

Some of us make a nicer God, some a more demanding God.

Why would a loving God subject people to trials designed to waste their whole lives while trying to settle the issue with a devil? Those trials have nothing to do with the person's potential, since anyone is going to fail if they are tried with things they were not designed for. Don't believe me? What if someone were to test your computer by running it under salt water with added chemicals designed to corrode the innards quickly as a test to see if it was fit to be run in a normal environment? Or, if I had a tropical plant intended for display in a hot room, and I wanted to test its fitness for that by putting it in the deep freezer for its whole life? None of that would be fair.

And neither is God. Putting a person who thrives on the opposite sex in a situation where he is totally deprived of it or deliberately conditioning him to expect rejection every time is not my idea of testing a person effectively any more than putting the hothouse plant in the deep freeze to test it would be. All it will do is permanently ruin the tested object so it's no longer suitable for what it was intended for. And yet God insists on continuing to do just that, and then He expects praise and glory.

And then He blames Satan for it. I have news for anyone that falls for that specious argument. Satan is not capable of putting people through problems that last their whole lives, but Jehovah is. If it were Satan, then Jehovah could have fixed it long before it had the chance to do any damage. Promising to undo the damage is useless, too, since a plant that was killed in the freezer cannot be resurrected, and neither is the person that has been rendered useless by lifelong being cast out from the opposite sex able to regain any hope of success after being fully conditioned to expect failure. However, Satan is capable of causing momentary incidents that fall outside this pattern, and even attempt to repair the situation.

Anyone who has lived a life where most or all of it is pure suffering should rightfully blame God, even if there were instances where it seemed like things were going to turn. What that means is that Satan is attempting to improve your lot in life, and he could well be sincere (it would be a slap in God's face if it were to succeed). But you can bet your bottom dollar that God, the Tyrant He is, is going to step in before it can bear fruitage and fxxx it up on you. Hey, He had been doing that all your damn life; what is going to make Him change this time?

I hear you (A&W) and agree with a lot of your posts. However,I believe mankind distorted what God is.Maybe in the future God will tells us/mankind what his plan is.Right now I don't think man knows and the Bible is very vague.Yes we all suffer heartaches, failures, success, enjoyments but that's life.Sorry but I can't help.

Whether I believe in a creator or in evolution I'm going to need about the same degree of blind faith.

On the balance of things I'm inclined towards an intelligent first cause.

Problem is, if I followed our loving heavenly fathers style I would have been put in prison a long time ago.

Nope. God's away, God's away, God's away on business.

Gotcha on this one Obves! Tell us, what of all the people in "false religion" who JW's claim were found out in field service while they were praying to their false gods?????????

I'll pass on the wise words of a teenager: "Prayer is just a pep talk you give yourself".

When prayers seem to be "answered" it's just coincidence, the luck or the draw.

Sometimes dreams come true, sometimes they don't. It's just random dude.

It is not so as you think so simple. We have Muslim religion and who is not praying there in that religion to God ? So ,why that religion stays intact for centuries and millions die withiout being saved at all. If God listened to prayers of each person there would be for sure one only christian denomination ,not hundreds of them with different often contradicting views !

No way ! God Yahweh decides whom to listen to and when and He must initiate the process. How do you know God answered your prayer if it is not allowed to pray to Jesus . Jesus taught how to pray . He never told to pray to him.One missing link can mess up everything . Try to look for something on the internet and put a comma instead of a stop sign in the web address and you will see a result ! One misplaced item can put all your efforts to a halt. We must come to God Yahweh exactly as He prescribed.
