Blondie,
I just couldn't go into depth like you have the ability to do. I get too aggravated to research that much. Thank you for doing the dirty work for me.

Nice one JK666, and I enjoyed a "meaningful comment " from Blondie. nice to see our sister able to add her personal research.....
The article centred apparently on 1 Cor. 2.10 - What are the "deep things of God"? only what the WT has written apparently..
6;Rather than give each Christian a separate revelation, Jehovah uses his spirit to direct his organization, which provides God's unified people with an understanding of the Bible. (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:3-6) Worldwide, all congregations enjoy a similar program of Bible study. Over a period of years, they cover the entire range of Bible teachings. Holy spirit acts through the congregation to help people adopt the attitude needed to understand "the deep things of God."-Acts 5:32.
Notice that it is the Worldwide congregation unified that is stressed . Not individual research in other works
This article encourages research and reading up references on scripture , but it must be seen in the context of the Sept. K M which said
"The Faithful & D Slave does not endorse any literature, meetings or website that are not produced or organized under its oversight".
Inkling was perhaps right to say
" When properly sanitized, secular research is welcome." The key word is sanitized. Anything that differs should not be considered, let alone spoken of.. However I have seen a change in recent times to the past. Speakers use secular quotes, but only if The Society has already used it . They have no courage or confidence to introduce their own . The good old days that we remember have gone.
Lets not forget that the cong. are "sheeplike" They are spoon fed and discouraged from thinking and urged not to get an education that would enable them to analyze critically. NB Sheep get fleeced !
.18/" However, additional research may contribute to your making meaningful comments at meetings–for example, at the Congregation Book Study or during highlights from the weekly Bible reading for the Theocratic Ministry School
Oh yes? I find that the current crop of Watchtower Overseers do not want comments that include "research".They cannot handle unexpected bits of info, they do not know if it is right or wrong and it bothers them. Try those sort of answers and soon get your hand ignored.!
The article ends with fine words from the scripture ""Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is for a protection; but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom itself preserves alive its owners." (Ecclesiastes 7:12)"
Knowledge and wisdom is what we need - There is more of it on the net than in the K.Hall...
Thank you JK666 and Blondie. I enjoyed your comments and analysis.
Excellent job JK666 and Blondie.
I think my "deep things" research project will be to count how many times they quote Matt. 24:45. I would guess that they quote one single verse a freakzillion times as the scriptural reason for their papal authority. [Sorry, didn't mean to offend the Pope there.]
Or another research project, why it's okay for WTBTS to spend $12.5 million with a gag order to the victims of pedophiles in the congregations. Hey, the FDS is giving food at the proper time, the proper time for an explanation to this is long overdue.
Amen, Billy! And how about a public explanation of the NGO thing while they are at it!

Great effort JK. What an atrocious article. I can not bear reading such propoganda, and really had to force myself through it just so as to enjoy your comments.
JK- Man, thats a great job you do of conducting the Witchtower Study ! If the studies would have been that tongue in cheek , funny, and satirical while I was still in, I ........., er, no I still would have left the witnesses. But I agree with you , the governing body is getting more and more paranoid about damage control after the major media incident in November ! They were pretty forceful in this article about doing only research in their publications , as well as dissing higher education I noticed . I too, felt much queasiness of stomach contractions after reading it ! Almost gave me dry heaves actually ! Great coverage though bro ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Just to do a little dead horse beating here re: inkling's comment about "properly sanitized".
JWs are still encouraged to stay abreast of current news events so as to be able to use these to arm-twist unsuspecting householders into more than 10 seconds of conversation.
As inkling noted, if the quote is properly "sanitized" to CLEARLY go along with current WT "truth", then it is fine, and even helps show how "open" and "honest" we are. (Barf!)

Q4) What does Bible study involve?
4) Understanding deep things requires study. However, study is not the same as reading something superficially. It involves carefully examining information to see how it fits the pattern of what we already know. (2 Timothy 1:13) It entails perceiving the reasons for what is said. Bible study should include meditating on how we can use what we learn in making wise decisions and in helping others. Also, since "all Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial," our study should include "every utterance coming forth through Jehovah's mouth." (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; Matthew 4:4) Bible study can be hard work! But it can also be delightful, and understanding "the deep things of God" is not too difficult.
Just follow the FDS and you will understand the ''deep things of God.'' (Just make sure you don't ask alot of questions along the way.And by the way.............things will change with the ''new light''.............. so make sure that you follow the pattern that you already know.)
THANK YOU JK666,BLONDIE
good job, JK
