Probably looking at the big picture the world is getting better. Maybe we take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. In the short term during my life time since the 50's, certain aspects have gotten worse at least for certain working people. Health insurance is out of site for many and I'm not one of them at the moment, and the need for medical attention can cause bankruptcy. Back in the 70's I could insure myself, wife and child with real health insurance that paid for everything for a hundred dollars a month. And I made more money working in a factory in the 70's than many people make in Florida today. Gas in the 60's was 32cents a gallon. Back in the 60's there were a lot of manufacturing jobs that paid benefits and retirements, true many were gone by the 80's. But back in the 60's we had 3 channels now we have a hundred with nothing on. Thats just a joke. We have lots of home entertainment with tv and cable. We have lots of things that make our society fast paced. Microwaves for fast eating. Cell phones to always be accesable. I know they had fewer and smaller jails back in the 60's. I guess we have more people now, but I kind of suspect crime and wharehousing criminals has become big business. The more lawyers you have equals more judges police and jails to process all the lawyer residue. My life was good in the 70's and its ok now. I dont think the world is getting worse from an end times perspective, but I immagine those who believe in end times probably do. Because we all see what we want to see. I remember when Clinton was president, I thought man has finnally figured out how to have peace and prosperity. I didnt really care for Clinton at the time, I thought he twisted the truth. But economically I was making lots of money at my job, I was making lots of money in the stock market. I was taking expensive vacations buying boats harley davidsons and sports cars. Then this ding bat stole the presidency and during the Bushwacked years I have been in a recession/depression. I'm curious to see if he bushwacked the US into becoming a third world country, I think he has because too many decent jobs have gone out of the country. But is Amerika as a third world country better than America in 1860? I'd say yes, today. Ask me again next year.

Mouthy and Fairmind, I have to ask you to think back to biblical times. What was life like for a woman? Having read aplenty on this subject, we are 100 percent better off today. We may not be at goal, but my gosh I would not want to trade places with ANY of my sisters in history.
Yes you may be right friend. ...So instead of being women back there being treated badly TODAY it is the children,that are being raped ,used, beaten, because Women stood up & got counted. Started to realize that women were EQUAL to men....So MEN!!!! using their GOD GIVEN power use the KIDS now.

In bible times, kids didn't have it that good. Girl children were married off to older men, as soon as they had their first period. They didn't have a choice. Even the wt admits that. Girls today have a choice, lots of choices.
Those were god's chosen people. Those were men like david, who spoke w yhwh, and yhwh spoke w them. Did yhwh take those rights to marry young girls away from men and gave those rights to women and kids today, or was it humans that secured those rights for little girls?

MANY young girls before their period have had MUCH sex, So it is all in the why WE individually think

I do not accept that these are more "critical" times or that society is "faint out of fear"..not in the Western world anyway. I have lived a long time and I have just not seen it. Only if you allow the doomladen scaremongering of the WT to shape your thinking would you believe that it is the case..

So, do people in general have less love today than 200 yrs ago, 2000 yrs ago, or in the bible? Another thing. You distinguished between what people want and what people need, as if people getting what they want is a bad thing. Would you say that people want love?
