Hey! I hope we all have a pleasant new year and if we are out and about this evening, have a "toast" in front of a JW, if you can.
Are Any Here Afraid of "Getting Caught" Doing Something "Wrong" By a JW?

Not in the least. A couple of days ago I met up with another ex-jw buddy of mine, and he invited me and my current wife, (never a jw), to his parents house for dinner. His parent's hall happens to be the hall I da'd out of last year. Goatee, toasting and all...
(Didn't bring the cigars, though...)

I walked away in 81, my wife walke away about 91, Since then she decorates our home for the holidays even crawling up on the roof to put up lights. Her witness family comes over and apparently dont see the Christmass tree and lights.
But we wont smoke in front of the friends, That might be worse than celebrating the holidays.
But in away, kind of sort of I'm worried about getting caught, It would suck to get disfelloshiped after 27 years. But the decorations and celebrations are all my wifes doing. I never celebrated x-mass as a child, I was born and raised. She became a jw in her teens.
I cant really imagine what they could do to me after 27 years. I havent been in a hall for 27 years, so they cant touch me there.
And I'm not that friendly to active JW's, most likely I would snub them before they could snub me.
But my wife has a substatial part of her family trapped in the tower. Many are elders.

it has been a long time, and my family are all out of the org., so I never think much about the elders. If you can picture a short flabby old lady whose former rack is now around her knees doing a bra-less shimmy in front of some sour-faced old elder, well, that's how I feel about elders. I'm with bigwilly - those self-righteous fundamental sorts are soooooooo easy to tease.

Last time I hid anything from my JW family I was 17, I was living with a GF, after that NOPE, I left home at 17 told my family that there was no way I would ever attend another meeting ever again.

Yes, Min:
Going to my students' music programs during the holidays, especially when they are held in a church - four in December. I'm not really so much fearful as annoyed at the stupidity of it all. Even visiting with a lady friend in an "appropriate" setting is subject to scrutiny ...
I mention the above to non-Witnesses and they just laugh and say, "That's ridiculous!"
Really.

Being a faded witness- kind of like what Changeling said- I do have a lot of witness relatives still. I am discreet in how I celebrate my birthday and my wife's birthday and Christmas . I'm not afraid of getting " caught" as you put it, because my wife and I don't publicize it much. I haven't been to meetings in 4 years so hopefully they will let me continue to fade quietly. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Although my wife and I are careful what we say to my witness parents, age 82 and 80 , as I want to continue having a relationship with them. So I totally understand the challenging situation Changeling is in . Some of us don't have to be concerned, some of us have to be a bit more careful , both ways work good, depending on what your situation is ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

When your df'd and run into JW's they stare at you anyway like you're some supernatural being
If I didn't realize how demeaning that can feel, I'd say "cool, I wanna be a supernatural being, too!"
I haven't been active in so long I doubt that even know my name or where I live. They leave me alone, and I won't come to the Hall and ask where the pedophiles are kept.

I have a photo of my wife on my chest with my children's names. I also have a wedding ring tatoo on my finger.
