Believing Everything Someone Tells You

WELL SAID, MIN. Perspective is often times what we lose sight of while on this board. If we all were to use more of it, it would definitely decrease the amount of emotional outbursts toward each other and instead help unify us against what the board was originally intended to fight. Cult mind control and the effects of a lifetime spent under their spell.

I for one am most grateful for the help I have received here and do not like to see us fighting with each other. It seems to me that PM's could be used a lot more to air differences of opinion instead of trying to make others look bad in front of everyone else. We all have our opinions, we don't all need to share them.

This board evolved from being a projw board to a #1 apostate board to a much more "inviting" board that has just about every type of person here. JWs, exjws, those that never were in, old, very young, sick, mentally disabled, those without any major "issues"....we got them all. I like the board's complexion. But we can never be naive.

I'm cautious. I give people the benefit of the doubt when it doesn't cost me more than my words. If it's going to cost me more than that, then I want to talk to them first. In person, on the phone, I can usually learn a lot from just conversations.

Are you the type of person that believes everything a person says?

No. I don't believe anything. I don't even believe this thread exists. I am alone in the universe, and everyone and everything else is part of an illusion designed to afflict me.

Thanks for this topic, Min. I agree wholeheartedly.

Clearly, it would be terribly naive to believe everything someone tells you, in-person and/or especially on-line. Therefore, I do not invest much emotional energy in the black-hole of on-line dramas here.

This nonsense is only 'eclipsed' by the foolishness of amateur psychologists here who try to one-up each other with their 25 keystrokes of heartfelt compassion, blissfully unaware of the fact that folks who are self-destructive do not need a cheering section feeding their sense of victimhood - they need professional help.

Ironically, I have been thoroughly vilified for this common sense approach by some of our most 'compassionate' posters in the ugliest terms - fortunately removed.

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but if something trips my "BS meter" I'll usually go with that instead

Bizzy Bee, I do not mean to stick my nose in this unnecessary, ongoing battle, but as I see what is going on here, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the very 1st negative poster would have made those statements without the emotionally negative attacks. Would the obvious good advice to all have been noticed if it had not been wrapped up in attacking any and all who try and help? I realize that this is an emotionally charged issue on both sides, but as I said earlier, if we use some PERSPECTIVE on this board, we won't get so emotionally involved in these issues thus missing the larger and more important picture: This guy needs some help, and kind words with advice to get help won't do any harm.

LOL! I can't argue with logic like that!
