I give people the benefit of the doubt. Usually if they're lying about anything it will show itself if they talk enough. I know there are many liars out there, but I just hate to assume everyone I come accross is.

Bizzy Bee, I do not mean to stick my nose in this unnecessary, ongoing battle, but as I see what is going on here, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the very 1st negative poster would have made those statements without the emotionally negative attacks. Would the obvious good advice to all have been noticed if it had not been wrapped up in attacking any and all who try and help? I realize that this is an emotionally charged issue on both sides, but as I said earlier, if we use some PERSPECTIVE on this board, we won't get so emotionally involved in these issues thus missing the larger and more important picture: This guy needs some help, and kind words with advice to get help won't do any harm.
CCS
CCS, Thanks for your comments, and don't worry about 'sticking your nose in' - this is an open discussion - but I don't know what you're talking about.

A wise man once said, "every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them."
kind words with advice to get help won't do any harm.
I have missed many opportunities to extend compassion to those who need it; I didn't see their thread or very many posters have already said what I would like to say. It's nearly impossible to know for sure if they need it or not, why be a judge.
As for believing, I try to keep my sckeptisism to myself unless I have some positive proof of a sham. The compassion extended by several posters is easily destroyed by one unsympathetic (pathetic) poster.

LOL! I can't argue with logic like that!
I agree with this 100%. -

No. I tend to have "bullshit radar".
But when I don't detect any, I do trust you.

I think it's easy to succumb to our kindnesses and generosity. We want to be persons with feelings. Still, I'm not the type of guy that readily gives people money to street people. My first inclination is---"go get a job"---but usually I simply refrain from being duped. I travel big cities regularly so I see the con game being played a lot.
Of course, not everyone is a con. Some are in real need.

As Changeling stated: " I do have bull$it radar", too. But I am the type of person to give someone the benefit of the doubt , and I will take what they say at face value, until they give me reason to doubt, or mistrust them. But , I feel I have pretty good intuition into people for the most part. I enjoy the subject of psychology

On these boards, I get skeptical when someone pops in outta nowhere, uses a huge number of posts within 24 hours, and suddenly vanishes.
