18 ~ just left home and wanted to show my "unbelieving" family I was independent and could make responsible decisions. :-)

My children were all raised as JWs but I forbid them to get baptized. I always felt this was a decision better made when they were adults. If they had gotten baptized, at least three of the four would have been disfellowshipped before they graduated from Middle School!

wow - 8 or 9 years old! That's way too young. I was 12, I think, which is also too young.

Eighteen, and the only jaydub in my family! I was engaged to be married to the first person who had witnessed to me . Six months before the wedding date, my dad told me that if I wanted to attend the convention that summer, let alone get baptized, I'd have to leave home.

So I did. Stayed with my Bible propaganda teacher the week of the assembly and moved my wedding date up to that weekend. Moved my stuff into my new husband's apartment that Friday, got baptized that Saturday morning, married that Sunday night after the last session.

We're still together 33 years later.

We left the Spoof a dozen years ago.
