    Ink,

I agree, and also add that cultural norms themselves are all relative in thier legitimacy. And say that the hate that one groups has for another group is often a case of not faceing thier own "shadow"(jung), and therefore project it on to a group.

    FS,

Thank you for your comments. I am glad I am not alone in my thoughts. Honestly I second-guessed myself when Gregor responded and called out
my obvious ignorance, and even now I think I might have misread his
original intent. I'm not sure why his wording bothered me so, but it
did, on a deep basic level. [ink]

Forty years ago I worked in a retail store. The owner was leary of gypsies as they had frequently left the store with items they had not paid for. Two particular gypsy girls I remember. They were masterful at diverting your attention. Flirtation, personal questions, questions about items not in stock. . . . . . . . These two girls even worked with a ventriloquist who made it seem that someone on the roof was asking for me by name to help him.

No ethnic disrespect here, just my personal recollection.

    Been to Spain?

We were warned repeatedly to be aware of gypsies when out and about in the city. I don't know what their nationality was and I'm not racist for using the word gypsy in the above sentence. It is what it is.

Gregor, I was glad I was warned ahead of time. We witnessed several incidents with them, theft mostly. One old woman began yelling at me inches away from my face in the subway in Barcelona. I threw up my arms and yelled at her to get away. It's scary actually.

I had a totally UN-delightful experience with gypsies at a company I used to work for.

The owner of the company was nearing retirement, and decided to sell the business. Unbeknownst to him, he was approached by a gypsy that offered to buy the business on a contract basis. While the transition was taking place, he sucked a $500,000 credit line with a local bank dry. He also collected accounts receivable and pocketed the money.

The company was taken over by the bank, and the previous owner got the shaft. The creep destroyed a 70 year old company. It was a gypsy family in cahoots, one being a lawyer and the other a purported successful entrepreneur. If you ever hear the last name Mitan, run away from any business deals. He even made a false paper trail to try to link me to inappropriate A/R collections. I had to go to court with the bank to get it all straightened out.

    Yes, at work,

theyre the biggest bunch of theives I've ever had the misfortune to meet. They are bare faced thieves as well, and don't make too much effort to hide what theyre up to.

    Scruffy dirty robbers.
