I mentioned this case with an elder this evening. He told me that it was probably the reason why the local population in St DiƩ opposed so violently the planned construction of a JW assembly hall in the area. One can understand...

News: The 5 people who could be prosecuted, are elders of a judicial committee that had not found guilty the alleged molester in harmony with "the two witness rules", the alleged molester has denied the abuse in front of them.

Thanks for this thread Chasson.
The two witness rule is Ludicrous. What a shame for the victim though
I am going to mention this to my JW wife who reads here occasionally of how the wts gets this so horribly wrong

Even the translation of this story did not make sense to me. My nephew who live near Paris responded to me:
Bonjour Bryan !
I read it. C'est terrible, indeed.
But it's a strange article though. It seems like rape is a part of the witness ritual... And I'm not sure about that. Wouldn't it be better to say that this cult doesn't do anything to make that kind of thing stop ?

No, it is not said in french that child abuse is part of the ritual of JW, and as far as i understand i have not see a possible interpretation of the text in this direction ?

The article does suggest that the rapes were committed in the Kingdom Hall, which is indeed surprising (although possible).

The other report that i have read said the rape occured during door to door evangelisation, when the presumed abuser was alone with the girl.
