This isnt the case in the US. The PO is a separately appointed position. Who is the PO gets as much discussion as who to appoint as an elder. Then the CO has to approve it. If the PO is no longer serving as PO you have to write a letter explaining why. And the Service desk has to approve. If the CO isn't visiting the congo then all the local body can do is make an "interim" appointment.

It is much closer to the old Congregation Servant thing than most people realize.

This is an old thread but where I stated that there will be changes made that are so big old timers wont deal with it.

Book study is gone, we know that now.

Next comes theocratic structure PO, Co etc.

Then comes the change in witnessing ( big one!!)

Then come the change in name, bigger again.

    And more........

    Told you didnt I!! :-)

Ah come on! You can't leave us hanging. Is the change in witnessing "the work is done?!"

Name change? Are you kidding me?

In your first post on this thread you said that Bethel knows there's a high level apostate. Are the changes a move to try and flush him out?

even when i was in, i could see that every change they made was purely for legal self-preservation reasons. not sure now why exactly that never bothered me. i guess it seemed "logical" at the time. LOL. if they would actually do another NAME CHANGE (ie. the last one was from WTBible&Tract Society to Watchtower Society, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this somehow affects the ability to sue them. kind of like dissolving a corporation or going bankrupt. once it no longer exists, it can't be sued?? don't know, don't care.

Jeffy - did you actually predict the demise of the book study? Can you show where? This certainly would give credibility to your other predictions.

Then come the change in name, bigger again.

I remember when I was a kid and we went door to door to try to show people God's name in their own King James Bible. Never did I know that "Jehovah" was a mis-translation.

In today's world of instant communication and instant knowledge, it doesn't take one more than a few minutes on-line to discover the truth behind the name "Jehovah".

So now, it's kind of hard to go around telling people that only Jehovah's Witnesses use God's real name.

But I can't see the Society going to the extent of changing the name of the religion itself, for the sake of truthfulness. That would be like Ford Motor Company changing their name just because they want to distance themselves from the Edsel and the Pinto.

But, the corporations that run the religion have morphed over the years and have changed their names. So a name change in one of those corporations would not be that surprising. It would almost be expected every so often as corporate and tax laws change.

I, for one, am most interested in the name change. This is like reading a novel. So glad I can observe from afar. The fallout should be interesting.
