Worldwide Church of God, the JW's are coming to join ya!

I bet the CO's are not getting any wind of this. I think it would really take the wind out of their sails.

:Didn't someone post that Jaracz had heart problems a few years ago?

That is correct. Upon a medical examination it was found he didn't have one.

If Losch does manage to take control of the GB, the religion will most certainly take a hardcore, fundamentalist turn for the worst. The guy is a hardliner through and through. As has already been mentioned, he has said that American Football is unchristian and was recently seen on YouTube condemning higher education. I was present at an assembly where he listed off names of specific movies which Christians should not watch. He strikes me as the type of guy who thinks the organization needs to be purged. I think he'd tighten his grip on the rank and file, which would give untold numbers of JWs on the verge the needed incentive to make the decision to leave for good. I feel bad for my friends and family that would have to suffer through the changes, however.

I don't think he has the votes on the GB to implement the changes he'd like to see. No way does Losch allow the book study to be eliminated. It appears to me that there are more moderate voices on the GB blocking the hardline wing of the GB from implementing hardline changes. In fact, it's probably the conflict between moderate and hardline factions on the GB that's led to the several yearlong lull in new GB appointments. There's been 9 GB members for a few years now. From what I understand, 12 is the preferred number (an implied parallel with the 12 apostles, I suppose).

One thought did occur to me on this topic.

Someone on another thread speculated that the new one-week-long elders' school in Patterson, which began this year, is tied into the "elimination of full-time COs" plan.

The idea being that the really high-up bigwigs really don't know the elders that they appointed, and bringing them in gives them a chance to see who the potential "shining stars" are.

The GB, or at least their most trusted advisors, are probably taking extensive notes on who in these training sessions looks the most like a "company man". When the time comes to drop-kick COs to the curb, the Society will be quickly able to appoint the "best" elders to the new positions of...what? mini-CO? weekend CO? weekend warrior CO? I'm sure they'll come up with some "theocratic" name.

In any case, I heard a bethel rep say that it would take 3 years to get all the US POs through the new school. Presumably they would like to see all the POs before making their selections for this new "replace the CO" position.

So my guess is that the dropping of the full-time CO position won't take effect until September 2011 at the earliest.
