My only problem with the JWs

Besides the fact that JWs are pious, think only they have the truth, won't read anything with an open mind... hell won't read anything at all minus WT magazines...

After all this, my only real problem is the shunning... almost everyone I love gets on my nerves from time to time, I get on theirs. The fact that the JWs beliefs is annoying isn't the problem, it just that after they are wrong as hell becasue of their ignorance, they won't talk to you.

I'm not trying to get my family to eradicate their beliefs, I'm just trying to get them to stop shunning those of us that don't believe like them. That was what I was trying to get my family to see... isn't that about the same with the rest of you...

Would you really care if your famlies stayed in the truth as long as they didn't treat you differently becasue you know better? I know I wouldn't, and I told my cousin so this weekend.

That's it in a nutshell, Dawg. Same here.

BTW....you were wrong about them only reading the WT lit......they do like the Reader's Digest, too.....lol

i hear ya and second that notion!!

what difference does it really make that some former adherents simply do not believe what a current JW believes..... certainly not every former JW that opts out because of a "crisis of conscience" is going to try to influence the thinking of others who remain comfortably entrenched...... crikey, the catholic church has had scandal after scandal sweep thru its ranks and yet they muddle on without scourging those who lapse or recant their baptism

    good point, dawg

I agree Dawg. They claim shunning "keeps the congregation clean" which is utterly ridiculous. If you are ranked high enough, you can get away with things others can't. Shunning is used to kept the rank and file in line and keep control and power over members. After all, if people could leave without those repercussions, many on this board would have been long gone!!!

My other problem with the WT is it's totalitarian policies. They have set themselves up as master over their members' faith. They rule with an iron fist and make things that should be a matter of conscience a matter of their LAW.

The shunning policy also proves that this is a fear-based religion. People who have seen through the WT are afraid to leave because they will lose family.

Shunning and the 'no blood' policy.

And the ignorance of scientific discoveries when it goes against what they believe.

And the 'crackdown' on reading any material that might differ from what they believe.

And the WBTS's 'license' to distort and misquote authorities on any subject to prove their own point.

And the WBTS's view that they are God's only channel, and that the death of their members is "no big deal, because they'll be resurrected anyway", leading to things like the 'no blood' policy and the Malawi incident.

And the mentally dangerous practice of reporting everything you do, always having to do more, never to be good enough.

And that they are A OK with the thought that most people on earth will soon be wiped out.

    Other than that...

I don't know. I know exactly what you mean though, and immediately when I read your post, I agreed with you. But the more I think about it...

It's just not healthy. Sure, there are a few good things about it for those deep in it, but...

    I hear you guys...

But Awakened07, you'd just think they wern't too samrt for all those thigs you've mentioned, I doubt you's really care all that much abuot that... all what you said is true and that's annoying that they think that way, but they think stupid things and on top of all that they shun..that's what gets my google.

Hi dawg - Yes the thing that troubles me the most is shunning. It is so evil because of its cruelty and the control reason it is used for. It would make such a big difference to all our lives and our families if this practice was done away with.

There is more involved than just shunning though because the WT is a deceptive cult and holds people captive under the mind control, using their lives to further its gains. I would still need to try and free my family and people that I know. I would still want to see the WT shown up publicly for what it really is - a dangerous cult.

I have a lot of problems with them, but their shunning is the biggest. It gives them authority over people who don't agree with them. I would like to have a live and let live attitude towards them, but they make it impossible. There are a lot of crazy religions, but they are the only ones who try to take my family away from me. As long as they have that policy, I will work for that organisation's downfall and eventual humiliation.

It gets down to the fact that they act like jackasses whenever being civil does not harmonize with WTS policy.
