Unfortunately JW's have been taught to use words like these as "mind-stopping" tools. They can be very cruel once they decide you are "not of our sort". When a anyone presents JW's with ideas/scriptures/facts that disturb JW beliefs they block them out with with mind-stopping words like- "they're goats/opposers/apostates, let's dust off our feet", the Internet lies about the WT," etc. There are some books available that can help break the mental chains that enslave a JW. The odds are probably no better than 50/50 that your husband will see what you see. Good luck, Cognac.

The "dog returning to it's vomit" is a watchtower induced autoresponse that most of them give little, if any, thought to. JWs have heard that phrase so many times at the hall that they just spew it out because they won't stop, think, and come up with an original thought of their own. It's the sort of 'thought stopper' the watchtower often employs.

All I can say is take it slow with him. Give him time to work it out in his own mind. He probably feels very threatened right now. I was too pushy with my wife and the marriage didn't last as a result. In time he'll see you aren't going to morph into a demonized apostate bastard from hell with a tail, 3 heads, and 6 eyes.

i'm just so mad right now... I mean really, I said to him, every reason I don't believe its truth is because of scripture... You just say sh$t based on people, makes you no different from every other religion. Nothing you tell me is from this bible. I have to answer to Jehovah with the knowledge that I have. If it is wrong based on scripture, then please, correct me. Based on what i have read through the bible, it isn't, and i have to answer for what it is that I know... if i didn't know any better, then that's one thing, but i do, and i can't follow what somebody says when i feel it is so wrong based on my knowledge of the scriptures...

How can I be expected to go against Jehovah??? How can anyone expect that of me??? because of what, i said, pressure??? how the h#ll do I account for that given the way that I have gotten to know Jehovah and developed my relationship with him? How could I ever justify that??? what are you asking me to do??? It is against my relationship with Jehovah, with Jesus, with people, with what is right verses what is wrong... I can't, not knowing what I know... If I didn't know what i know, then I could be forgiven for it, but I do....

    Return to your vomit

    Apostate

    Sin against Gods spirit

    Hard hearted

    Selfish desires

    etc etc

I think if there is a God He may think you are starting to use the brain and the feelings He gave you! If there isn't then it's op to you anyhow!

Sorry to hear it. My mum said that to me, and she became a witness when I was two years old. I must have been one rotten little baby!

It's stuff like that that's made me no longer wish to talk to my mum. I'm sorry that it's coming from your own husband.

Spewing cliches are the specialty of the non-studious JW's. It is the only thing they can rely upon since they do not really know the Bible. For me, returning to a Kingdom Hall is as repugnant as "returning to vomit."

I can see where you would be mad, but he is just using his "Organization" trained conscience. Hopefully, he will become more open minded in the future.

    Good luck,

Wow, jk, that's exactly how I feel...

the hardest part is, is that he doesn't know the bible, so he is using JW teaching over me. it's like, our relationship means nothing, that this org, means more to him then me and he doesn't even know if its from the bible or not...

shows you where I stand. wow, this sucks.

What is so crazy is I would have said the same thing to my wife 30 years ago....

But I wish now, she still would have said....

Some times it takes time for the seeds to grow....so give him some time.

Show him my triangle docs and the lame horse. Tell him there is a mutiny in Bethel

Remind him of the generation changes and how each change was made by apostaes (The WTS opposes their own doctrine)
