I know of one JW who committed suicide. His name was Spiro Pipper and it was back in....1975 or 1976. I belive he was living in Florida at the time. He had closed his carpet cleaning business here in Rhode Island and moved. He left behind a wife and one daughter. Someone out here on the board perhaps knew him after he moved from Rhode Island and possibly can give you more info.

I knew of 2 different JW's that committed suicide. I can't remeber the names right off. The first one was 6 years ago this comming March. This one happen in Joplin Missouri. We was having our circuit assembly. The JW that did it waited till after his 6 year old son had his part on the program. Told his son good by, and left. Later that day his wife came home to discover her husband had hung himself in the garage. He was about 35 at the time, left behind a wife and 2 young children. Oh yes he was an elder. And the second JW to kill himself happened at Paola, Kansas, July or August 2001, on a Sunday. His wife called the police when he walked out of the house with a gun. They used a helocopter to search for him. The moment the police located him, they got there just as he was blowing his head off. But he was not dead just yet, so they rushed him off to the hospital. He died at the hospital shortly after getting there. He left behind a wife and a daughter.
In 1979 or 1980, Linda Mullett, a young mother of 2 children committed suicide in Jonesboro or Johnson City, Tennessee. She had apparently attempted suicide once before.
I can't remember some of the details, but there was a story that she had once called the sheriff and asked to be taken for psychiatric treatment. The local JW's told her she "couldn't" get mental health counseling, I think. As I say, I can't remember much detail now, particularly since I have obtained most of the information second-hand (i.e. hearsay).
Billy (last name unknown), a teenager I believe, was having some sort of relationship with a young married woman in his congregation. He was told that the elders would deal with him. He went home and drank some kind of poison (weed killer maybe?)
I know his California sister's name, but choose not to tell you without her permission. She used to (maybe still does) have a web page called "Broken Chains." She posted the story once on H2O.

yes, i knew the same person, spiro pipper (though i'm not sure but i think the name could have been spelled pippa)
i dont rememeber exactly where ....take gwens word on that, she has a better memory than i do, but i can tell you, that he did it with a gun. and there was some discussion as to weather or not he was of sound mind. there again.....we could all question that about ourselves. his wife, had a disease, one where she could not take any exposure to the sun at all. wore dark glasses and had curtains inside the family wagon to block out the sun. he was a nice man as i remember, but the mid 70's is correct and i hope the information is helpful.

Watchtower Press Room Overseer, Wheelock, stepped out his Bethel window only a few years ago. Not the first nor the last there.
One successful suicide by a publisher in this congregation. Three serious attempts by another resigned elder in the same congregation in the last two years.
About 5 years ago I visited the lock up ward to console a teenager after her second attempt. Concerned she would feel worse being cut off from her family and friends she assured me she was not alone. In a ward of about 200 there were two other witness youth in with her for the same reason.
If you must have names and dates I will give you what I can in a private E-mail. I would really like to see a summary of your findings.
