So...does it also apply to the husbands taking the bad credit back to them since they are not linked and the wife's credit is then turned back to good? I have a feeling not...
Actually, the warning came to all the seniors/elderly or otherwise non working women who are authorized or linked to use their spouses cards. These women, especially the older women, will have no credit history should their spouse die and they have to turn to the banks for help in starting a business, getting a mortgage, a car or anything else. sammieswife.

Yes ...
Most of the work I've lost is due to the trickle-down effect. Less disposable cash available to my clients means cutting back on luxury services. All I really care about is keeping a roof over my head; everything else can go, but I do need that roof.
Eating is nice too.

Minimus,
The recession is already here. Inflation, subprime mortgages, bank busts, etc etc.
We find it difficult to make ends meet even with two incomes.
People, I cannot stress this enough - get an emergency savings plan going. You will not regret it. Even if it's $10 a week.
I was driving to work last week and on the radio an economist said we should get rid of our debts, cash in our chips (stocks) and make sure you
have plenty of money in the bank - because at the end of the day, the money in your bank is more valuable and more accessible than a stock which has lost
80% and restricted withdrawals.

Inflation, subprime mortgages, bank busts, etc etc.
60 Minutes tonight had an interview/show on the subject of the subprime mortgages. It was very interesting because it showed how the system worked it's way on up the line and who profited and who lost. I guarantee that had banking regulations remained in force, this fiasco would not have elevated to the heights that it did. On another financial guru show, one guy called in looking for some help - the holdings in his 401K I believe it is, have dropped $14,000 in 2 months and he was floundering around wondering what to do now. Cash it in or leave it. What a mess. All I know is that if you follow whats going on with the banks in Africa where nobody can get all their cash out, it's pretty scary. We think we are immune but so does everybody. sammieswife.

Yeah indeed...we had a very hard times...I believe specially we ex JW's have more problem having ends meets, due to the WT policy of education...I'm so agry about this because they steal our lifes.
In my country sallary's are shit..average 1000 Euros...cost of living exremely high. Petrol is 1 Euro per litter, there is no way to buy a house..prices have gone 3 times more for land and houses for the past 8 years, but the salary almost the same. Before 8 years you could get a house arount 100,000 Euros. Now you need 260,000 Euros. So if both they are working end get 2000 per month, again there is no chance to get a house. To rent a 2 bedroom flat is about 500 Euros..Everything is going up and life became so hard to cope with.. I don't know about any other countries bad, regarding my cost of living has gone crazy

Oooooooh so now I’m a liar. Nice. Let’s see where I start. Well I guess the logical place would be to start with my income, no I’m not a lawyer or a doctor but I am very well paid for what I do. I’ve been at my current job for almost four years (Four this may) I work really long hours, nine am to seven pm and Saturdays nine to five. I carry a big load of the work in my office and am compensated for it.
For the three months that my sister was in the hospital my life went something like this. I’d get out of work by seven thirty and drive all the way to the hospital; I’d get there by eight thirty, if it was a Friday night maybe nine if I got out of work later and traffic was bad. I would get to the hospital and my mom would go home to sleep and check up on things at home, I’d stay in the hospital with my sister for the night. The next day I’d be up by six thirty because that was normally the time my sisters nurse came in to check on her and by seven my mom would be at the hospital, when my mom got to the hospital I’d take of for work, if I got lucky I’d get home with enough time to shower and get to work. by nine. Saturday was the best day of the week because I got out of work early I got to go home take a long bath and a nap and then I’d go to the hospital and spend the rest of the night with my sister and all of Sunday.
During that whole period of time all I did was work, hospital, work hospital, the only social thing I did was go to a Laker game two days after my birthday. Some of you brought up the rent issue and yes I agree rents here are insane, a one bed room goes for at least a grand, our rent is not too bad because we’ve been at this place since I was 13 but I know that if we wanted to move in to my building now the rent would be at least 1,200. We got lucky and are lucky that our rent isn’t as big as it could be.
Another thing is that the only reason I had to use the cards was to pay bills, I really don’t spend a lot just for the hell of it. My lap top died several months ago and I paid my bills rather than get a new one, I still don’t have a computer at home. My biggest splurge last year was spending $450.00 for Laker tickets and that was a birthday gift for my sister and myself.
Because my sister’s condition is chronic I think the social worker at the hospital set her up in a program called CCS which I believe provided by the state. They’ve been the ones that have paid all the medical bills and for all the medication, along with therapy.
I know it’s hard to believe that I could have gotten thru this with no help but I did. Once my sister got out of the hospital I immediately began to pay down all the credit cards, I remember one week having only $25.00 in the bank, I stopped eating lunch at work and ate CupAnoodles (shudders) but I did what had to be done. I knew that I really couldn’t count on anyone to help me and to be honest the only reason I paid the credit cards off so fast was because I wanted to have them available in case my sister ended up in the hospital again.
Overall I’m a really lucky girl, my boss is very generous and he gave me a pretty good monetary gift for my birthday and a nice Christmas bonus ( I paid for all my Christmas gifts with that) and as of the 15th he also gave me a raise.
When I was nine one of my moms’ friends gave me the best advice anyone has ever given me, she said “Lola when you want something you need to go out and get it because one is going to come to your door and give it to you”. And she was right, no one is ever going to give me what I want and need, I can only count on myself.

Heck yes, I'm having a hard time making ends meet! Every since I came down with this Psoriasis and Cervical/Spinal Stenosis! I got doctor's bills coming out my arse! I don't even go to all my doctors appointments anymore! I haven't worked since my mother died; that's when all this crap started happening! No more second income!
Just shoot me! They shoot horses don't they!

It could be better...but others are in a worse situation than I am.
Still own a house up north... it's empty so I may lease it this spring. I have had 3 lookers in 6 months. I've been dragging my feet renting it ...as soon as I get someone in it a buyer will show up... always the way that happens.
Owe some money... some unsecured. Yep, I did it. It's not the governments fault that I owe it or have to work to pay it back.
What is the Government's fault is allowing all the fees and charges that new regulations allow. The regulations used to be geared to protecting the consumer by regulation of late charges, interest rates being altered as "penalties' and the like. Credit didnt cost so much a few years ago... and has been on a steady slide since the Regan years as far as being user freindly.
I live within my means. A divorce a few years back left me holding the bag a little bit. Had to re-finance and use a little credit to pay the little woman her alimony and buy my stuff out of the divorce. Plus, I was the guy who helped the kid go to college...Mom has paid nothing to support or help him since she walked away. Oh...she's still a JW in good standing.
