The big problem is that we used to used cash to make our purchases , with minimal or no credit. Now we spend credit and very little cash. Our cash is now becoming worth less and less, credit is worth nothing.. The way credit is used now

But that's the way that the banks aka business aka the government want it. They do not want cash transactions because first of all, they can't track cash whereas money in the bank is open for perusal by any of them at any time and secondly, the banks are making so much money off of cashless transactions that sooner or later a teller won't exist at all. It's much easier to bankrupt a country that has no cash - a flick of the switch and the banks go down - and so do people. I always wonder at this cashless way of life. You work all day but you never really see payment for your work. It just appears in your bank account through direct deposit from your work. Now - I've worked in payroll when crap happened and the payroll didn't get into accounts and the people it screwed up I can't begin to tell you. In the old days that wouldn't have happened - you had your payment in hand and went to the bank yourself. Imainge if your work had this problem for a month or 2 solid - what would we all do? Most people don't have much in savings and never carry cash - sammieswife.

Don't insult me by call Hillary a Rep. She's a socialist

Not. She's a progressive Republican wearing a Democrat cloak. I recall hearing some guy in the know months ago predicting a Hillary/Mitt campaign - because Hillary would work with the Republicans best. If Obama got in they figure they can work him up pretty good too but they are terrified of Edwards getting in. He would decimate them. That's why Edwards isn't getting much airtime - corporate fear. sammieswife.

Sammielee24, you bring up a very good point. I really believe they are trying to move us to a cashless society and I don't think it is a good idea. I have totally cut back because of the recession, I only spend money that I have, I don't use credit card at all, not for any reason whatsoever. If I don't have it, I don't buy it. I don't need to go out on the weekends, I would rather relax at home, save my money and call it a day.

Can we talk about hidden fees in banks these days? Right now I made a decision everytime I get paid to automatically take out a portion of my check, cash it and save it on me. They want to track us, trace us and at any moment pull the plug and we are stuck. I actually worked at a non-profit where twice we were unable to be paid on time, it was horrible. Suffice to say, I learned from my mistake.

Honestly, when you are in a recession, you cut back. Stay at home, watch videos, even when I am dating, I have no problem just relaxing in the house, watching a dvd and all of that. I am a minimalist anyway, so honestly I can survive on rice and gravy everyday and some kind of vegetable. At the very most all of us will have to pull back completely and cut back to the basics.

LOL...hey, I"m not a Capitalist nor a Libertarian...and for sure not a Republican! I'm all for a sound, healthy social support system which includes health care, education and social security. Call me what you will - or call Hillary what you will - anything is better than allowing your government to be run by corporations. I took this from some guys blog just because I thought it had some great points - found it by accident -

What is socialism to them? Is it Hitler's National Socialism? China's totalitarian Cultural Revolution? A life spent wasting away in a Soviet Gulag?

There is a strain of the Republican party (and the Libertarian one) that insists that all of our problems are best solved through the innovation of the market. Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani are quick to tell you how they plan rip the stuffing out of your scarecrow government. To them, the New Deal was a travesty because it gave government too much power over the lives of its citizens by creating programs to help its most vulnerable. Clinton's detractors need only point to her promise of national healthcare system, as proof of her Karl Marx-inspired philosophy (Many commentators also decry our current president as a having a red streak, himself).

While shouting "Wake Up America! Hillary Clinton is a Socialist!" may sound like a damning indictment, Hillary is hardly the exemplar of Big Brother-style government. Look at her husband-a fiscal moderate who negotiated some of the biggest free-trade agreements in the country's history. Her corporate donor list is not exactly a who's who of socialist thinkers, either.

But back to the notion that laissez faire capitalism will take care of society's ills. If the free market is so good at solving society's problems then why is our healthcare system failing such a large percentage of our population? In 2005 roughly 47 million Americans did not have any health insurance. And the number rising. Why? The National Coalition on Health Care sites a few factors, including a shift from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-economy. In other words, we don't make things anymore, we sell the stuff others do. In addition, our workers are going from full-time jobs, to a series of part-time gigs, thereby finding themselves disqualified from joining employer insurance pools. Since the year 2000, when George W. Bush took office, healthcare costs have risen 36%. In comparison, wages have gone up just 12.4%.

People often liken big government to slow-moving dinosaurs, bureaucracies incapable of quickly responding to the needs of its people. But consider the auto industry as a counter example. We've long had the technology to dramatically increase fuel efficiency, so why does it take an energy bill to actually make the Detroit 3 act? Steel and paper companies were content to pollute the Great Lakes (which contain 21% of the earth's fresh water) to the point of extinction before government stepped in and forced them to stop. Industry has a bottom line, pleasing shareholders. That means keeping stock prices high, period. Why do companies outsource labor to third world countries? Because they hate America? No, because it makes financial sense. There is no overriding social conscience to the corporation. That's where government needs to step in.

I may not vote for Hillary Clinton, but her enemies really need to do better than simply yell "Socialist!" without attempting to address the problems that face the country.

Every rational citizen of any country wants security.

The only secure nation is a just nation. The less social justice that is evident in a nation, the more insecure becomes its citizens.

I predict soon everyone in this country, except the Watchtower Society and the Federal Reserve Bank, is going to be materially broke. The Watchtower Society will continue usurping and suing everyone for not becoming witlesses, and the Fed will just print out more money.
