Any apologists for the WTBTS or The Christian Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses reaing this and willing to reply ?

Even if you are a member of a "local congregation" indemnified by charitable status or limited liability, I value your response.

If John the Baptist had been beheaded on the wedding feast of Cana when Jesus showed his support for the festivity ,as opposed to an actual birthday celebration or an actual memorial of when Jesus was killed, what would have been the justification for the current group think of the WTBTS regarding birthdays, but not weddings

The legal writing team for the witnesses do not backpeddle very often or admit to being wrong. They simply play word games the same way they have with the blood issue. If it were true I wouldn't exactly call it a reason to rejoice, but rather to get angry! I've missed 41 of them so far.

A lawyers point of veiw always has loopholes, grey areas, for their own evasive measures when the need arrives. A matter of consceince. What a laugh, these guys don't have a consceince. It doesn't matter if its written or not. The bible is written and they arn't following that either.

Read the small print... I'm not sure who it was, I think it might have been Knorr who said. We have 1177 rules and if you don't like it you can leave. Thats about as much truth on the issue as you'll ever get from them.

Just make sure you don't apply the rules to them. Kings do whatever they want. Un scandal, pedophile coverups, and even homosexuality at Bethel. Happy birthday Shitheads. If you guys like things in writing, here's some writing for you. Take your rules and shove em up your ass.

    Tyrone,

    No harm to ya,

But WTF (I am being rude here) is your point?

Are you for the motion or against the motion ?

I believe that that you are against the WTBTS position. I am 100% in agreement with you, if you believe that the WTBTS are wrong.

    Over to you, Bro?

Why be rude to me? What does it matter if I like it or not. I'm only one person and I didn't direct my venom towards you. Instead I directed towards the org who has denied millions the simple pleasure of celebrating. That should be a clear indication of what my stance is. Yes I think birthdays are great, but Methinks they speak in a cloudy if not double tongued fashion. It appears many on this thread don't know what the stance is. Thats exactly the way they want it. Anyone celebrating it within the religion, therfore, will not truly feel comfortable because it's not written in stone. Celebrate if you want but big brother knows, and he'll make sure he squezzes every ounce of joy that he can out of you.

A couple of years ago (when I was still in) I had to explain to my office manager why I would not be attending my boss's 60th birthday. Everyone in the office was attending and she'd learned that I wasn't going and she thought she should stress to me the importance of my attendance. I'll never forget how embarrassed I felt as I sat there with a straight face telling her about the birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible and how people were killed and how the early Christians didn't celebrate (that last part I wasn't even really sure about, but I was grasping at straws). I realized that day that what I said to her didn't make one iota of sense, and was ridiculous as hell. I'm glad I was forced to go through that exercise as it opened my eyes to how I really felt about the teachings of the Witnesses. I think this was just about the only teaching that I (privately) completely rejected even while I was still a JW. I didn't attend the party, though, because I wasn't brazen enough to just go for it. Oh, and later on when work slowed down and they had to start laying people off, guess who was the first to go???

I expect that soon EVERYTHING will be a "matter of conscience." The appropriate question to ask is "WHOSE conscience?" Generally it is not YOUR conscience they are concerned with, but the conscience of the little busybody Sister Ann Nointed or the conscience of the Circuit Overseer or the conscience of one of the anonymous deadheads who make up the Governing Body.

Heck, for what it is worth, PEDOPHILIA is a matter of conscience now, and has been for several years. Remember how the Society "reasoned" that if an elder was a pedophile seven years ago but the sin had not been uncovered, it was a sign of Jehovah's forgiveness?

Next up: GENOCIDE - A CONSCIENCE MATTER.

Similar to MochaLatte. It was when trying to explain it to my 4 or 5 year old son it hit me. I was listening to myself and thinking "No wonder he doesn't buy this spin. I wouldn't."

Kiera. Thank You for your compassion. My entire family is still in the religion, I have had no girlfreind for four years, I have lived on the streets for six years since the witnesses cut me off in the prime of life, and 7 years at the Y. I have been beaten up abused and I now suffer from Bi polar among other health ailments I have a broken back, criminal record, Celiacs disease and recently had a double hernia operation. I now live like a hermit and have no one to celebrate with. For many years I turned to drugs. If you spend any time on this board you will see that not everyone has been as blessed as yourself. My life should not have gone this way at all. Thnks for waving your magic wand and making it all better. You know nothing of me or my life. Only what I tell you. I know I'm supposed to be happy and breaking out the champagne right now after all I had everything taken from me by the witnesses. Thats such good advice, you should spend your time as a shrink. " Hey Doc, I just got gang raped by a bunch of thugs" Dr. Keira..... Just get over it! Shut up! I'll lay the blame where it belongs. Just because someone is out does not mean they are over it. For some it is an ongoing fight against depression. There was no internet or help when i left. It was a death sentence. I was cut out of my brothers weddings, My own graduation, and have too many failed relationships to count. DO NOT LECTURE ME!

Ha Ha Ha! Ignoring = shunning. Deal with reality. The witnesses are the best at ignoring reality. It's called cognitive dissonance. Anyone that knows me on this board, knows I am not a complainer and I almost never speak of my personal affairs and I have dam near 1700 comments on this board. I don't want sympathy. Further, I'm now doing much better in life. If you think I'm living in misery you oughta see my place. I have done much healing and am trying to help others with what I know. The only reason I wrote a bit about what has happened in my life is to teach you to have more compassion. Stop assuming you know what the score is. To tell you the truth at this point my life has never been better my back operation is coming in six months and they say it will be a 100% recovery. I choose to live alone at this point. Judging by the tone of your insensitive comment and lack of compassion It looks like you are the one who is miserable. Ignoring is only a band aid solution. Instead of ignoring the past I deal with it. Instead of ignoring reality I deal with it. Band aid solutions just don't fix the soul that well. If I choose now to ignore you, it won't be because I can't handle your deep insights, but rather, because I find you a tad annoying.
