Even if the number is infinite, I can't see why each universe couldn't start off simple and become complex. It happened with ours.

This conversation reminded me of this from wikipedia
The Big Bang is a scientific theory, and as such stands or falls by its agreement with observations. But as a theory which addresses, or at least seems to address, the origins of reality, it has always been entangled with theological and philosophical implications. In the 1920s and '30s almost every major cosmologist preferred an eternal universe, and several complained that the beginning of time implied by the Big Bang imported religious concepts into physics; this objection was later repeated by supporters of the steady state theory. [59] This perception was enhanced by the fact that Georges LemaƮtre , who put the theory forth, was a Roman Catholicpriest.

Well I can see this universe, I know it exists. Just imagine another one. Simple. Keep imagining even more. Simple
I would believe it if you could show me the evidence. Otherwise I have no need for that hypothesis:

Sero and the Unified Field Theory
In the beginning there was Aristotle
And objects at rest tended to remain at rest
And objects in motion tended to come to rest
And God saw that it was boring, although very restful.
Then God created Newton
And objects at rest tended to remain at rest
And objects in motion tended to remain in motion
And energy was conserved, and momentum was conserved,
And matter was conserved
And God saw that it was conservative.
Then God created Einstein
And everything was relative
And fast things became short
And straight things became curved
And the universe was filled with inertial frames
And God saw that it was relatively general
but some of it was especially relative.
Then God created Bohr
And there was the principle
And the principle was quantum
And all things were quantified
But some things were still relative
And God saw that it was confusing.
Then God was going to create Sero
And Sero would have unified
And he would have fielded a theory
And all would have been one.
But it was the seventh day
And God rested
And objects at rest tend to remain at rest.

And then Burn saw that Sero had not said the multi-verse theory was a reality, just a possibility.
And then there was light.

Burn You bring up a good point! But, in quantum physics like many of the sciences, there are those who don't mind bending the rules to get rid of God. Even if He is the simpler option.

Whoever or whatever designed life has wasted no time letting many folks kill each other arguing over it for thousands of years.
Maybe many of us are looking for an argument?

DD,
Which is simpler? The universe or God?
However complex a universe or even a multi-verse is, wouldn't the creator of all that have to be even more complex?

Another comment on the origin of the universe, this time w language a little more scientific. It originated from an event of turbulence in a resting state of potential. It was that 'anomally'. Once you have the cause, science has put together a reasonable framework of it's development. While the very earliest stages are still a bit fuzzy to them, the later ones are more clear.

The way I understand string theory, it doesn't matter. The rules don't apply, because there are no rules in a multi-verse.
So say some in quantum physics.
