If the meetings offered practical solutions to life's problems, people would be less likely to blow them off.
my fade began and continued in earnest when my family was enmeshed in some of the most damaging and destructive circumstances a family can hope to survive ( i even had a therapist tell me that most parents would think it harder than facing the death of a child).....
ALL we got from the BOE was an offer of a shepherding call.... and i said if all you can provide is yet another admonition to study the "family happiness book".... no thanks
we never got that visit..... after that they dropped us like a nasty habit.... go figger!
one can hope that the rank and file determine that there is no soothing, satisfying or placating the b0rg..... so get while the getting is good
ETA: isnt it rich that the blame and responsibility for "failure to respond" is directed to those not responding? is it not a bit short sighted to fail to see that the c0rp0ration might have a hand in the lack ( or absence) of enthusiasm for the project?

Meanwhile, they themselves spend less and less time in any real ministry work either door-to-door, shepherding, or otherwise 'rolling up their sleeves' to help any congregation or publisher in any practical way.
The sheep follow the shephered, right? I have noticed that the CO spends less time in d2d and less with the rank and file training and setting an example.
If the sheep are lost or lagging, the shepherds are responsible.

In addition to costs being up and benefits being down, I see another trend. People are being punished for going by being called scums and undeserving for not doing even more. As if that is going to bring them back in for more.

LMAO@sacolton ,yah like hey if you don't go out in service more you are df, people be like cool then I don't have to go out at all .How about you buy somebody a new book bag or something for the most hours spent in service? Why does everything come down to them hating on you when you don't want to do something? Anyway it is written ,"the worker is worthy of his wages".

Heathen, I love that idea. Give real "incentives" for the publisher of the month, like a free bookbag. Or a framed piece of JW artwork for the living room wall. You know, it might just work.
The PO in my old congregation said more people showed up for "goodie night" than any other meeting so, in his brilliant wisdom, he discontinued "goodie night" until attendance at the other meetings improved because people were coming to meetings for the "wrong reasons." Of course, meeting attendance has now dropped so much at his KH that they may be absorbed by another one. When will they learn that heavy handedness backfires?

You have no idea how peaceful my life has been. 3 and a half years of not having to listen to that crap! I never feared the co, basically because I became more of a social friend to them. A number of years ago, I began the practice of GREASING the co's palms. Because I was no great ball of fire in the cong. they weren't all too interested in me due to my track record. Oh, sure, once in a while the co would take an interest in me to work with me in the fs. BUT!! they always knew that "I" would slide them a "C" NOTE after their visit.
Hey! They know all of the bullshit, and they certainly know when some one knows the game they play. I KNEW it! And I had their number and THEY knew I knew!!! They are just the business REP for the wts, nothing more nothing less. Get the numbers up, forget the poor and the dying. Just perform.
They didn't impress me nor did I fear them and they KNEW it!!!
