I enjoy a variety of classical music. I think my current favorite are some of the works of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Both Mrs Thirdson and I were discussing Friday night driving to dinner what in particular makes English music so English. Of course it makes me feel rather patriotic and reminds of the best of Britain. I used to live in Elgar country and Mrs. Thirdson played in a orchestra a couple of years ago when they played the enigma variations. I almost had tears in my eyes. (I blinked hard)
Other composers I like: Holst, Debussey, Copeland, Grieg, Wagner and Verdi operas. I only started listening to opera in the last few years. I also like a lot of the work of Richard Rogers. I wouldn't have admitted that a few years ago. Although, live theater is better than any film production and a show is always wonderful entertainment.
Factoid: Minneapolis/St. Paul is second only to New York in theater seats per head of population.
