I definitely call it abuse when a child is forced to go to church (and especially one that is so wretched for children as the witless religion) against their will. And, for one to be spanked and threatened for fidgeting, it is nothing short of atrocity.
Here is my take on the proper rule--and there is only this as proper rules:
(1) Thou shalt not initiateth the use of force. This includes dragging children (or adults, for that matter) to the Kingdumb Hell against their will or forcing them to agree against their better judgment. It also includes spanking them (or beating them) for minor infractions like fidgeting, or for infractions that are created by the structure of the meetings. Most temper tantrums have a frustrated drive to learn and/or explore as the underlying source, and are created when children have to sit still at boasting sessions for hours at a time. And, it includes dragging children out in field circus instead of play time.
(2) Thou shalt not threateneth the use of initiatory force. This includes that "Just wait until we get home" that is so common in Kingdumb Hells. It also includes being told that, unless they behave and do everything they are supposed to, that they are going to die at Armageddon. Much of it is blackmail.
(3) Thou shalt not initiateth fraud. This includes that "Pioneer or Die" crap that spoils so many vacations. It also includes lying to the child to tell them that God requires all that activity when such is not even scriptural (and, when rationally analyzed, there might well not even be a God to answer to after all that. Bogus bans on worldly association, holidays, after school activity, and going to college for some specious argument could well fit into this. And, it includes going out and telling people just the paradise part and drawing them in, only to be hit with all the rules.
Any other rules are totally needless.
