DoomVoyager, First of all, humans create things because they are active and have a driving force to express who they are. IMO, The Eternal One is no different. We can speculate all day long as to the reason for the first cause, but suffice it to say, The Eternal One, began to create, not out of any kind of incompleteness nor impotence, but out of love. Our misery is brought on by man's mistakes and choices, not God's, but it does not negate the fact that this world is full of wonderful things to be joyous about and MANKIND is the one that has to find the way to turn things around.....we have free will and the ability to commune with The Eternal One, but He is not going to wave a magic wand and solve our problems. We have to do that and we will as we evolve spiritually.

Even the language I used such as the word "He" and "God" is insufficient, because it denotes an entity outside of pure consciousness and that description is inefficient and inadequate.

    Become more inspired

    Become more creative

    Develop more love and joy

Understand your fellowman a little better

Be more open to learning new things

Become more appreciative of Life itself

Recognize that you yourself are a tool by which the Universal Intelligence experiences this physical plane.

Spiral out to the random Journey-On! You remind me of the Tool song, Lateralus (you might like this song it is pretty deep):

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
    lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

    I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
    to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

    Spiral out. Keep going, going...

God does not exist because one cannot simultaneously be both omnipotent and omniscient.

    How so?

So we're self aware, and concious. The fact that we will die is what should be the important thing here. It is for me because i think "im so insignificant" like a speck of dust in my house on my street in my part of the world on this planet in the Milky Way Galaxy.........and ......all those other gazillion galaxies out there IF they were part of a design of the Eternal One should speak volumes as to why he should stop by and say hello. ...But wait maybe he is not the kind of God we imagine. Maybe he cant talk english ...maybe he is a God in the abstract ..maybe he is only a designer god likes to be an architect but not to good on the talking part..leaves that to us. We re all going to die. That the part that sucks. The worse part that sucks is that maybe in another galaxy theres a planet with beings on it that dont die cuz their designer got it wright...

Just finished listening to the song and loved it. Also loved the imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope.

I guess I get a little too far out there for some people and probably shouldn't use this venue to express

myself that way. Best to stick to the normal stuff, I guess before I'm perceived as a kook......lol Thanks

for the Tool song, though. I love the words.

I am also moved by the tenacity of evil. If God is all-powerful, then He could wipe it out as easily as one would wipe off a film of dust, and stop it from ever coming back. But, it has gone on for all this time, just so He can prove His point. Six thousand years of suffering, injustice, and death so one lousy Tyrant can make a fxxxing point!

    1. The universe exists (premise)
    2. God created the universe (premise)

I asked WHY god would find it necessary to "create", and you replied

    3. We can't understand why, but we know that he did because the universe exists! (conclusion)

Ever heard of "begging the question"? When your conclusion just restates your premises?

That's not what I said, DoomVoyager. Go back and reread it. I think you've missed my point

entirely, but perhaps it's because of my method of explanation.

WTWizard - If you stop looking at The Eternal One as the cause and continuation of "evil", you

may be able to see past the JW + Biblical mindset and figure out that mankind is the one responsible

for creating his domain and mankind is the one responsible for cleaning it up! Man is evolving spiritually

as well as physically and technologically. If we learn how to resonate with the positive vibrations of light

and love as a species, we will evolve into a more loving, caring, compassionate people. We have to use

our own free will to effect the changes necessary to create our own "paradise" ourselves. We have to

quit looking outward to some God in the Sky to do the work for us. We must look within and learn how to

connect (synapse to synapse) to a higher consciousness and resonate with it to begin the evolution. (Well,

actually the evolution has already begun, but must be able to continue on this path.)

I'm sorry, but this goes so far beyond any rational belief system that I really don't want to spend any more time debating it.

I would like to point out that astronomy is one of my hobbies, I've been using a telescope for about 3 years, but nothing I have seen requires me to invoke some mystical inexplicable Jew in the Sky.
