I am doubtful my kids' school will participate in that, although I agree with it. Seeing as their aunt is a lesbian, we are already learning tolerance. They should respect people, regardless. As for if it is a sin or not, I'll let "God" be the judge and enforcer.

    momz,

I agree with you, we should let God judge. But you cannot imagine how many fellow Christians have accused me of supporting homosexuality because I do not bash gays. btw: my husband has 2 gay brothers and he IS a gay basher!

My response to these so-called Christians is usually this: If you say a homosexual is a sinner, thats fine. But since the bible says we are ALL sinners, you are not any better off in God's eyes than those who are gay. Got it? That usually shuts them right up. Lilly

momzcrazy, I second that! That's why we're here. . . if the JWs ruled the world like they wish to, everyone of us here would be fighting for our basic rights and our safety and security too.

My 12 year old has been seeing alot of a "Christian" family in our neighborhood, she has a crush on one of the boys. She said the other day that her aunt was a sinner. That the Bible says she is sinning. I told her what I said above. I am going to use your line of reasoning the next time it comes up. I had never thought of it like that.

Good on you for doing your part. Of course, if it stopped at the odd bit of namecalling, it probably wouldn't be worth such a dramatic protest. But anti-gay bigotry in schools often extends to physical assault, and even murder.

Jude 7 AMP [The wicked are sentenced to suffer] just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the adjacent towns--which likewise gave themselves over to impurity and indulged in unnatural vice and sensual perversity--are laid out [in plain sight] as an exhibit of perpetual punishment [to warn] of everlasting fire.

    derek,

Thanks for sharing that. I am well aware even in my area of kids who were assaulted because they are gay. My daughter felt that the situation on the school bus if it continued, would have excalated to the level of an assault. I am glad she spoke up and we went to the school. They removed the offending kids right away and now this boy can ride the bus in peace.

But my daughter told me that last summer this kid was punched in the face right outside his home by some nieghborhood kids calling him a faggot.

I say it starts at home. Parents need to get a clue and teach their kids appropriately. Assault on anyone for any reason is just not acceptable. Peace.

You're right Lil, the Bible doesn't condone such behavior. It condemns it along with certain other practices that are treated as parlor games.

Good point. It's unbelievable that people are still using those ancient scribblings as a moral guide. As you point out the bible condemns a lot of other harmless practices, such as wearing mixed fibres, shaving, and going outside on a Saturday while condoning rape, slavery and genital mutilation of infants.

Rom 1:32 "Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

When people are taught such nonsense as if it is not only true but the very word of God, then it's no surprise that sometimes people follow "God's righteous decree" with tragic consequences for teenagers like Lawrence King.

It would be nice if those who quote the bible to justify their behaviour could at least look at the words of Jesus who was much less bloodthirsty than most of the other characters therein. Matthew 7:1-5 would be a good start.

IMHO, homosexual behavior among boys at least is pure fallout from divorce, which is also condemned, as mothers cannot teach boys how to be men.
