From my personnal expierence, one's written words can always be circumspect. If you print something, smeone else will find it here and throw it back at you. It's just the nature of THIS forum. I am not the one that titled this discussion board, but I found it and it works for me.

Certainly by now you must have come to the realization that we are not favorable to jw's. Yes, there are active jw's in here, but for the most part they too have discovered the actuallity of what the wts is and is not. You will notice that there are many that are df'd here, many da'd and those that need a sounding board for their frustrations with the inequity and hypocracy of the org.

You, yourself are very well spoken in regards to your beliefs and your personnal feelings. We respect that here, however, don't criticise us for not being sympothetical to your desire to once again RETURN TO THE VOMIT. Oh, yes, and we also turn the scriptures back into the face of the wts. For too many years the wts has pointed fingers at any and every one that they so chose. But through the perceptive powers of REASON, we have overturned their reasonings on things. It's through the wts own HYPOCRACY that the people on this board have become empowered.

You certainly are at a CROSSROADS dear, but please don't take these criticisms too harshly. You have your whole life ahead of you. Whereas many of us here have wasted our entire lives serving a false hope. We are trying to make the most of what's left of it to make up to our famlies and friends that we contributed to leading into this mess.

You may have just jumped into this forum with a few posts, without having researched the enormous amount of information that has been aquired here and posted. Take a break and look back over the past few months of posts and see for yourself what the TRUTH really is ALL ABOUT.

reniaa.....I suppose I should have looked at your post history before my last response. I now see that your very first post was to a thread started by Cyber-Sista. So, I see can see by this that you have no previous post history or expierence on this forum . With you current post topic, I can undestand the quandry that you are in. Perhaps you were a bit naive in posting here, but hey, I give you credit for trying. Hence, the enormous amount of negative comments in response.

As I said previously, there is an enormous amount of research that has been done by some very BRILLIANT members at JWD. Please take a few days or more and use the SEARCH mechanism at the top of the page. It's under the options heading. Pm some of us and ask for certain topics that may be of interest to you about the wts. Things that I am sure that you are unaware of. I am sure that we would be glad to assist you.

To return to your original post, If it works for you then do it . You will at least be with people who claim to live to a high standard and in my experience , most of them do. If you are looking for assocation as a prodigal daughter, then I am sure they will take to you.

Just do not remember what you have learned here or elsewhere. You have to stifle your thinking process and take what they say , hook line and sinker. Some people don't care about what is true or false. They are happy in their religion because is is comfortable. If that is you, then go back and we wish you well.

When I joined JWD a bit more than six years ago, I joined because I wanted to know how JWs replaced the spiritual association they had "enjoyed" when they left. By "spiritual association" I simply mean the constant encouragement in the NT to meet together with fellow believers. And in that time I have not really come across a satisfying solution other than that apparently adopted by Raymond Franz (and others) to meet together in the privacy of their homes with like-minded people. This becomes a bit of a problem if you do not know of like-minded people in your community, and I have embraced the thought that I belong to a "community of faith", of like-minded people around the world, several of whom I have found on JWD and not a few who are still Jehovah's Witnesses. So I am not advising you what to do with your life, but just saying that I think your quandary is shared by many.

Leolaia will respond more thoroughly than I, but I'd like to take a stab at this:

1/ from what you said your saying stake is the main way they could have refered to stauros but it could also be used for cross? because no other specific word for cross is given at the time? but you also say this word was used for many ways that romans executed prisoners, what proof do we have that in jesus's case it was a cross not a stake?

We don't know the form that Jesus was crucified on. It could have been any number of shapes. There does seem to be indication that Jesus carried the stabilum, or cross-piece to the place he was crucified, so a cross-like shape seems likely.

But does this mean that all of Christendom is wrong, or that the witnesses are wrong about the shape? I say it definitely lays to rest the Watchtower claim that the cross shape was adopted because of pagan origins.

Thank you earnest, I could wish there was more on offer as alternative but I'm coming to conclusion as others have said on here I may be a JW at heart especially if I still sound like one after not being to more than a couple of meetings in 10 years :s

From what I've seen of memorial threads put up on here enough already will be posting memorial experiences without mine :s but I may not be there anyway baby is due within days of it. to poster above earnest.

just remember Memorial is one of the "special" day where all JW's attend. even when they are half-dead or just about to give birth. Your thread, "Thinking of becoming a Winess again and my reasons for doing so :( " should start at attending this year Memorial.
