I don't mean to stir people, I've only had chance to do about 4/5 replies on this topic because of my busy life but I seem to have that effect, it isn't deliberate i'm sorry if my honest opinion on CofC upset people I would just prefer a more modern read of an EX-GB experiences in current times.

If you are able to give an honest answer...

I am not sure I want to undemine my literal faith in the bible, My dislike of becoming an atheist/agnostic is that I really don't want to be stuck without the hope

Nobody is suggesting that you should become an agnostic or atheist but challenging your perceptions and beliefs continually is a good thing and to resist reading something because it challenges your perceptions and beliefs is exactly what the WTS would want. In opening your mind to other views you dont have to embrace them, just simply acknowledge them and then form your opinion based upon intellectual honesty. For someone that is honestly searching this should not be a big deal.

    Just my tupennys worth.

McKenzie’s purpose is to provide readers with a way to accept biblical stories that can’t be literally true, thus preventing them from dismissing the Bible entirely. In this I’m sure he will succeed...

Do any amount of research into many of the stories of the old testament and you'll soon find they're not actually historical accounts. So what do you do? Dismiss the bible? Not necessarily. How about understanding what the message behind a story is? As JW's we were taught a fundamentalist, literalist interpretation of the bible and it can be hard to see any other way. But educated Christians are not so restricted. Real truth does not have to hide from information, and if God doesn't want you to lose your faith you won't by learning more about the bible.

How you cultivate your faith with the new knowledge is then up to you. But sticking your head in the sand is only ever a temporary solution; temporary just like the WTS.

    Renaii,

you said: I will address the hebrew 1:8 scripture, is it saying Jesus is God? well after researching it on internet last night the jury seems to be out, it's quoting from an OT psalm scripture which is saying a human king is God which is using the God term to denote how people view the king not saying he is actually Almighty God, and from a number of sources all say same thing that both ways of translating it are correct both the NWT and KJ lol confusing, So i wouldn't say this is a defining scripture that can be used either way

My first question is this: If the WT has claimed that they are restoring the Divine name by replacing Lord (kyrios) with Jehovah in the NT when it is quoting an OT verse bearing the Divine name, is it honest to let their theology overide the rule here and not do so? Also, David is addressing the father in his prayer with the words at Psalms, obviously. The Father applies those same words to the Son- the Son being a man of the line of David. I see no conflict here given the hypostatic union.

This is what the kjv says:

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

I've held off posting on your thread for a while to try to understand. But,I'm having a really hard time understanding why you would want to go back to an org. that has time after time proved, that they can't be trusted with the truth.

Deputy Dog, there is no more plainer way to put it than that. I agree.

I just don't think Reinaa has much invested into her ideas about the Watchtower. They seem trivial to her. She doesn't see these issues the same way most on the board see them.

    Isn't that called self-deception?
