A local JW couple took the LEAD with a local group in my hometown that opposed a landfill being developed on the road they lived on. He was an engineer and was instrumental in getting the landfill voted down by local zoning. They were filmed speaking at local meetings several times, and it was broadcast on local tv.

This is NOT against any WTS policy or council.

I come down on the side which says the guy is a hypo-critter .Keep seperate from the world that's what the org. used to teach when I was in the mob.Local school, YMCA what's the difference.How many Jehovah kids could go to youth club,sea cadets,girl guides,boy scouts.Hey suppose it was a Church of England school what then?

It was the hypocritical nature of the witlesses that started me thinking you can't run with the hare and the hounds so I got out of the confusing morasss of nonsense.

Then why aren't there any JW PTA moms? Agreed that the occasional trip to the city council to solve some land problem might not be an issue. "Getting involved" in any capacity would raise hell.

I also don't think there would be any problem with parents being part of the PTA or PTO, except for interfering with meetings or issues with the holidays. Some elders might make a personal objection to it, but I don't think they have a leg to stand on.

When I was an elder, I would never have had a problem with any of this.

That engineer bro got his education before he became a JW.

If there is no WTS objection to it, where does the hypocrisy come in?? You guys are picking at the straw in your brother's eye.

It really is a non issue because it does not have political party agenda to it. It's a building, that's all. Council meetings such as these are set up for any sort of building that might affect traffic, population congestion, etc etc. Every time there is a KH expansion or new build, these meetings will occur. No one is voting for a political party or agenda. I went to one recently and never had a second thought about it becoming a political event.
