I'd laugh off a comment like that. Like, give him a kiss on his forehead and tell him you married him for the same reason....
Cognac,
I haven't posted too much on your threads other than to drop a word of encouragement a time or two, but I have kind of paid attention to your trevails as your exit experience unfolds on JWD.
Where do things stand now?
All the best,
Alex
question EVERYTHING. 2+2=4 right? maybe it does....
You arent an idiot.
The ability to question is a hallmark of intelligence.
Good answer, jgnat.
Things 2 year olds understand...
Sorry to hear that. He means, "Things a 2-year old can be manipulated into
going along with to please his parents until he's sure he always understood it.
Show him scholarly things about evolution, Christian theology, atheism, etc.
Show him that intelligent people are all over the map on what's what.
Start reading Steven Hawking books in front of him, or choose from other
scholars. Hell, read Shakespeare or T.S. Eliott or Kurt Vonnegut. Whatever
you read, share stuff with him. He will feel like the idiot.
I say stuff to my wife about the problems with WTS, and I mention that she needs
to be less judgmental about some things, but attacking one's intelligence because
of their faith or changing of faith is really not a good thing for spouses.

Still going to most of the meetings. We are going to switch halls in Sept. I'm going to really fade then...

Or, walk upstairs, lock him out and state that "I refuse to have hurtful influences around me." hmmm, I chose the latter, if it didn't hurt so much I could've done it your way...

Thanks IP... You always make me feel better...
cognac...
you are not an idiot...were we idiots for staying blind for so long...NO....we were just....well...BLIND...
one is only an idiot (such a strong word) if one keeps doing the same thing over and over KNOWING the difference....
having said that, for those of us either still in or with family in, or both, sometimes we have to pretend to be like them, or tolerate them, or whatever it is we need to do to keep the peace in our family, even if it drives us NUTS....until such time as we can extract ourselves from the JWs for good.
I myself have walked away...meaning I dont go to meetings or field circus...and dont believe a word of the WTS doctrine...but I still have tendrils attached because my mom is still a dub...
so to keep peace...I dont tell her what I and her non-JW husband already know...its a cult...
so cognac...be patient with your husband....hubby is blind ..or maybe he is doing what he feels he has to do to keep peace in the rest of his life...the path of least resistance.....too bad that means not having peace with you.........just show him you love him.
HANG IN THERE!!! (((cognac)))

Well, since you are not an idiot, a comment like that can have only so much power. Oh, if my hubby tried that on me, I'd have so much fun with it. He'd rue the day, I can tell you.
How about asking him a question from this list every day over breakfast? http://www.corsinet.com/braincandy/stupid.html
Until he caves and admits your brilliance.
Good luck with things over the next few months until you switch KHs.
We all sympathize with the nastiness you're going through.
