I bought myself a motorcycle and joined a gym.
Playing a lot of raquetball, meeting new people, loosing a little a bit of weight.
Definetely helping after losing wife to the craptower and being alone with no friends.

Oompa, I know exactly how you feel. It's amazing how many here just want to throw up their hands and run away.
Even though I was physically removed from the Witnesses at 18, I still believed it was the truth until I was about 32. So, I spent my whole life thinking God would kill me within 2 years. Isnt it amazing how they always keep Armageddon within a couple of years in your mind? The realization that it was all a lie hit really hard.
What bothers me most is looking back at a wasted life, and extremely stupid choices. I never really did anything but survive day to day because I felt that I was basically a dead person walking, due to the death sentence of not being a Dub anymore.
Turning 40 was tough. I've probably lived over half my life. The realization that I WILL get old truly set in. It's funny, I never viewed getting old seriously because Jehovah was going to kill me before that ever happened. The realization that I will just get old and die was unsettling.
Maybe since Spring is here, we can all get out and do something to get our minds off the daily crap we deal with. Take every moment of peace where you can find it.

How can anyone know if they are in mid-life until they know how long they are going to live. We can only know when mid-life was for us as we gasp our last breath.
I had a good friend who died when he was just 34. For him mid-life was 16. He went through mid-life without knowing it!
The reason I say all this is because attaching any unwanted feelings to the fact that we are a particular age is misleading. Some people expect to have problems at a certain age and magnify their difficulties due to their expectations.
Enjoy every moment - this is not a rehearsal.

I've always had a little gypsy in me but I think the whole running away is brought on as a rejection from JWism. I've had the same thoughts for years but with a JW wife makes it difficult.
I didn't have these thoughts until I began feeling suffocated by the religion and its members. Do I still have that feeling? Yes and no. There is a part of me that would love to runaway if my wife would join me and there is another part that wants to stay close to my Non-JW family.
Oompa, I don't have the answers. Maybe you should do what Ninja suggested....chase some midwifes.
