I was reading a book on Hermenutics yesterday. (I work in a bookstore in the religion/philosophy section).
One way of testing the equivalency of two differing words is to substitute one for the other in many passages and see how smoothly it reads and note whether or not it clarifies more than obscures.
Try this: every scripture that uses the word: NAME (in connection with the Supreme Being) substitute: REPUTATION.
I find that it shines a lot of light.
