The Society prints one thing but TELLS you something different. Years ago we'd say, "Unless I READ it in the publications, I won't believe it".....Not anymore. They have successfully gotten people to trust them in the interior rooms. They've privitized themselves. They can pretty much print anything and then tell the gullible Witnesses the spin, and they believe it.

******The Society prints one thing but TELLS you something different.***** I grew up with ....Do as I say not as I do. confusing Witnesses seem to have accepted the hypocrisy of their own literature. and that there is like a "secret society" of the brothers and sisters that really "know" what the teachings are. the unwritten ones. keeps paranoia perpetuated. purps

This is a type of theocratic warfare....put nothing in print that can come back to bite you in the ass. What they say in the "interior rooms" as Minimus put it, can always be denied or explained as the r&f misunderstanding the information.

As an "active" JW, I completely agree with Kool Aid on this.

wha happened?
The old guys in Bethel will eventually circle the wagons. It may appear on paper to be lenient. They will become more extreme and less tolerant.

It looks to me like the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation is trying to appear more liberal in print while they are becoming more controlling verbally. There's two Societies, one I can study in print and another I can live, and they aren't very closely related.
Two quick examples are the blood medical treatment Bulgaria agreement and the other is the freedom to vote article. The Society writes that they won't disfellowship for blood medical treatment but they will shun members for accepting treatment. They write that it's okay to vote but tell members it's not okay to vote.
They're trying to appear to be giving up control while they are bent on keeping control. Don't look at what they say they do, look at their actual behaviors.
