Treat her like royalty, tell her you love her, treat her to a massage, bubble-bath, and a romantic dinner, take her out on dates to the museum, theater, etc. Always manifest your love for her, avoid bringing up Religion, all the best.

Yep....my pink elephant has his own chair and remote in the living room. Been there so long. There is no doubt that there is another side to JWs when you corner their beliefs and its NOT pretty. You know like in the movies some poor schmuck will be having a conversation with a pretty woman and all of a sudden her face morphs into a skull and has teeth dripping with blood and emtpy black eye sockets? Yeah...like that.
A couple weeks ago I said to him 'Hey I heard you arent having the Book Studies at peoples houses any more?" He looked at me, didnt say a word, walked outside. ELEPHANT heard changing channels in the other room. Last Sunday, he comes in the house after being MIA with his suit on and books in hand....I look at him, eyeball the suit, register that I know where he just was....he walks past me into the bedroom. ELEPHANT is heard laughing at Comedy Central.
It never goes away.

Hi oompa
Isnt that the dual personality of a cultist you're seeing? Steve Hassan in "combatting cult mind control" talks about this. There's a distinct personality change once you're discussing religion, very different from when you're talking about everyday stuff. I see it in my dad alot. The defences go up and the shutters down and he takes on a real hard exterior which no amount of talking gets through.
I just try and keep him on normal talk as much as possible Good luck with the missus.

carla: How long do your 'discussions' last? Have many all dayers yet?
Those are all over....any that went more than an hour or so always ended with her crying real hard and running out of the room....I can't take much of that so have laid off a lot now....oompa
early on I was so vocal about learnng the REAL truff I driving most friends crazy too

Oompa I feel for you, but imo she is not an evil twin, she is your wife but she is brainwashed and that makes her have two personalities. They all seem to be like that.
I saw it in my MOM who I loved dearly but she drove me crazy when the Jehovah personality immerged, she would be talking normally and treating me, my kids and grandkids like any other mother/grandmother and suddenly she would bring up JW religion crap. She would just drone on and on but You don't dare interject with something negative against what she was saying. Her eyes would just glaze over and she would keep repeating the same thng over and over not listening.
I used to just change the subject and bring her flowers, bring out family photo albums, make her something nice to eat, take her out to lunch (she loved that). I treated her boring cult sermons with change the subject and lets do something fun/nice.
Have a great day Oompa and I do feel for you and your situation

S3Raph: Always manifest your love for her, avoid bringing up Religion, all the best.
I have to bring it up once in awhile, I have to get her to think. I want her to understand how we can give up on these ingrained beliefs, or at least how I could and why many others have.

JK:
Oomp,
This doesn't seem like a new development. She is the one that turned you in before to the elders, right? Just a dose of reality, my friend.
Thanks a lot dude! That is true, but that was VERY early on....she even semi-apologized about that...she was really scared and I was changing so fast....that was a very difficult time for her (me too). Now I am pretty sure she would not do that again....she knows I am here a lot and never fusses....once I left the site up overnight and she read some of the posts even...

oompa......... you're going thru what many of us have gone thru.
In her eyes you are the one that Satan got a hold of, you are the apostate and the spiritually deseased one.
If you love her and want to stay with her, just be patient and wise in what you say about the "trooth",
what comes out of your mouth right now is all satanic in her eyes and that's why she might be freaking out and running to the elders.
After 26years of marriage,it fell apart because my ex felt now that i am an apostate and literally demonized.
It's almost a lost cause trying to reason with them, i hope you the best and that you'll be more successful then many of us that were in the same boat.

It's almost a lost cause trying to reason with them
Turns out, humans don't generally respond well to Reason. In fact, the other meaning of 'reason', as in "the reason I said that ..." demonstrates just what 'reason' is to humans - we behave how we behave out of emotions/instincts and who knows what else. Then, to try and explain ourselves, we come up with 'reasons'.
So it doesn't work the other way round - you can't use 'reason' to change behaviour. Use emotion or appeal to instinct, and then the 'reasons' will come afterward.
I think it was the same for most of us who got out - at first, we didn't sit down and think "I'm going to calmly and rationally reason on my religion and test if it is true or false." There was usually a trigger, some emotion or instinct that started the process. Or am I wrong? It was like that for me, anyway.
