All the sex and violence in the Watchtower study and the bible make most movies seem rather tame.

If parents try and keep their children with movies appropriate for their age, why not religion? Looking back, all they did was instill fear of God in me, and not the healthy kind. Do small children really need to hear the story of a woman being raped to DEATH, or children eaten by bears for making fun of an elder?

Making such small children be still and quiet for that long is wrong. Even when they start school, they are given ample time for fun in the early grades. Educators realize that children's attention spans are just not that long.

There were many mothers who brought wooden spoons in their diaper bags. My Mom used to pinch me alot.

OK, I'm upset now from the memories this dredged up. I've still got issues and memories of my mom bringing the belt to the khall and threatening us with it, not to mention the images of mothers holding their babies and climbing to higher ground to escape flood waters. That really got my mind going at 9 years old.

I can still see the water faucet at the back of the KH in my mind where I was spanked.....jerked up out of my seat

(which was not cushioned and uncomfortable as hell) because I was squirming too much, poking at my sister too much,

giggling too much, or something. I was taken to that specific spot right there by that water faucet and spanked then

with red eyes and still sobbing had to go back into the KH and sit like a stone for the next billion hours! (But I still loved my Daddy.)

I have always thought they should have a sunday school or whatever. In sunday school they make learning the bible fun. Sitting in the meetings, the kids only learn to hate the whole arrangement. I know that I would have much rather been in the sunday school, and I hated school.

Makes sense to have some topics reserved for an older audience. Children shouldn't have to sit through some of those more adult discussions at the hall.

Witnesses should have had a Sunday school for kids, something more interesting for them, but since Knorr said families MUST worship together these Sunday schools were banned.

I totally agree. Many of my local churches have a service for families (yes, families should worship together) but they have Sunday school for the kids as well. Then there are study groups for adults where they can discuss more controversial subjects. Rutherford (I don't think it was Knorr) was very short-sighted in discontinuing Sunday schools - if I remember correctly it was another exercise in distancing JW practices from those of Christendom.

That's why I rather liked the Tues. nite book study when I was a kid. Our study conductor always assigned

some little project for the kids to do for the following week. It was through those little projects that I memorized

the Bible books in order (five at a time) and I always excitedly anticipated getting to recite them out loud. The

coziness of the book study also gave kids their first confidence to raise their hands to answer a question. Once

we were old enough to read, our book study conductor would always try to use the children to read a scripture

from the paragraph and I always felt like it was an honor to be called on. The elimination of the cozy book study

groups is going to affect the children more than they realize. I really think they will soon implement Youth Groups

and Children's Groups and allow the sisters to participate in the direction of these. (Maybe the yellow highlighter

will make the Bethel spies take notice: JWs need something for the kids!!!!!)

Most churches have Sunday Schools, even Bible Students have Sunday Schools for the kids, and even summer camp. I think there should be special meetings like most churches have addressing certain nmeeds, like marriage, raising kids, datings, women studies, men's studies and youth groups. Of course, with all the meetings the JW's have now, I don't know how that would be received. Then again, the Society would NEVER do this.

I raised 4 ....FOUR.....children to be Perfect Little JW's. All wore little suits, ties, and dresses that covered their little knees. They all enrolled in the TMS by 6yrs and were giving Bible readings on a soap box. Talk about GUILT.....well, I'm over it now and have apologized to these dear children.

If we could go back I would have them on soccor teams and science club, music lessons and art school. What a waste of youth. They all rebeled by 15 and two were DF'd before their 18th. It was a disaster and I still get sick in the pit of my stomach as I recall that horrid time.

I do not see the Borg developing any type of Sunday School or Youth Programs ever. They view their unity as a badge of TRUTH. The boast of the 3yr, 14 yr and 75yr all on the same page. It's is stupid, absolutly STUPID !

How else can you teach a 12 year old to be an excellent shunner, or a 14 year old a judge, or a 20 year old an elder? You have to school people to be little jerks so they can become grown jerks. Teach them porneia and gehenna and they'll understand the JC process.
