Does Fear Rule Your Life ?

The definition of fear in the dictionary is " A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence of imminence of danger. " Another dictionary I have states the definition as , " An unpleasant emotion caused by exposure to danger, expectation of pain, etc. a state of alarm . "

The governmental powers use "fear" to instill submission into it's citizens. Religions use " fear " to keep their rank and file members controlled ! They portray God as a merciless power who will destroy anyone not obedient to not just the Bible, but the particular religion's involved. Jehovah's Witnesses were great at instilling this fear into people in order for the Watchtower society to exercise " ultimate control" over it's personal lives of it's members.

So- fear essentially seems to have a negative connotation. So have you who were former Jehovah's Witnesses learned to enjoy life - outside of the " fear " of living life that was instilled in us as Jehovah's Witnesses ? What have you done to get rid of such fear- and proceed on with a happy life- free of unreasonable fear ? As always I look forward to your comments ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I lost my fear the day I woke up and saw the oppression the witnesses practice over their adherants. I was made awake with out fear from that point forward. I became involved in the community. I joined service organizations that truly practice humanitarianism. Witnesses don't have a clue how to actually help people. I just moved on.

It used to be quite predominant in my life. But getting out of the JW’s and also getting rid of the TV has pretty much stopped it all.

Like was said, I think that fear is exacerbated in both politics and religion. Take away that exposure and you will feel a whole lot better…..

When it comes to the bOrg, yes, I'm afraid of them.

I'm a little embarrased to admit that, but I truly believe this religion can turn into a worse doomsday cult than they already are. That's why I'm afraid of them. If they have the power to have a cultish hold on so many people.....then who knows what else they're capable of.

I know my parents would sign over all their assets without blinking and go live in a hole if the GB told them too.

I would agree with Lady Z somewhat. I'm still "in", and still somewhat afraid for my own sake, for various reasons. However, as I pay closer attention to everyone around me, I'm very afraid for my friends and family that are still blinded.

Billy, that's why I'm afraid of them. I should have been more specific.

They can do what they want to me, but 90% of my family are in the bOrg and very brainwashed.

    I fear for them.

not to make light...but if I survive my mom, I think I shall never fear again. Small statement, big meaning.

Otherwise, loosing fear of eternal destruction or torment, helped me. Funny how what I thought was the most comforting thing in my life added the most ture fear.

I am honestly not a fretful person....I could probably stand to be more on guard.

Once I worked through losing absolutely everyone and everything I knew and lived to tell about it, I felt like I was Teflon. Nobody could do or say anything to hurt me or scare me, even "god." Living a fear based life was over.

So I would say facing the fear and working through it is how to get rid of it. If you don't, one is always wondering about what is going to happen next. Then make your mind over never to live that way again is how to continue. IMHO.

I have had bouts of extreme anxiety since I was a child and I saw Dr. Strangelove. Now my fears are more of an economic nature and of anyone hurting my grandsons.

It really does suck to be taught to be afraid of EVERYTHING since infancy.

I am still afraid of way too much, but I'm working on it.

By the way, a GOVERNMENT based on fear is as dangerous as a RELIGION based on fear.

I really would like to scrape that out of my soul now.
