The Hebrew Bible is chock full of irony.

Listening to a symbolic snake brought misery.

Looking to a symbolic snake brought healing.

Doesn't take too many firing synapses to see that much more than snakes are involved here.

Try wrapping your heads and hearts around the red heifer of Numbers 19.

Hmm, St Paddy was an Irishman, has anyone thought about whether those 'snakes' he chased off were pink and purple polka dotted?

And what I want to know is why didn't he get credit for chasing off all the pink elephants too?

    Original Serpent = Satan

    Copper Serpent = Jesus

(John 3:14-15) 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone believing in him may have everlasting life.

Wrap your head around that snake, lol.

I can't see a darn thing wrong with this thought, what immediately came to mind is how the WT always applies and likens this to that. (types and anti-types) The first man Adam lost life, the last man Adam(Jesus) bought back life, this is just the same thing really, The original serpent brings death and hell to the earth the copper one saves the world. I thought this was really interesting......food for thought. (parallels and parallels) Cheers! hope4others

dinah said: "Why do the Israelites make me think of cavemen running around with clubs and rocks??"

I don't think that's too far off. They were a bunch of superstitious, primitive, nomads.

And thousands of years later, people stake their lives on silly rules that those "primitives" cooked up.

And what's up with Uzzah being struck dead for trying to catch the ark? I guess he should have let it hit the ground and all the holiness fall out??

It is my understanding that the ark was built in such a way that it conducted electricity. Uzzah got zapped, God got blamed. (Probably to same thing happened when the bears attacked.)

I wonder if the kept the image and put it in the Ark of the Covenant.
