Single? Do You Cook for Yourself?

I'm single and I love cooking. I love to cook a huge pot of food (whether it's a Thai curry, beef and mushroom casserole, goulash, it doesn't matter). Then invite some people over, sit around and eat for hours, talk, have a beer or glass of wine.

I do also cook for myself but that's usually a less elaborate affair. I hate wasting money on take away which is almost always disappointing.

When you go to the effort of cooking, in the interests of time and energy (your own and the electric or gas), you might as well make the best use of all the components

I have to limit the amount of time I spend on my feet. That makes cooking in large amounts essential for me. I used a high stool if I am doing stirfry or preparation - all that chopping. It takes so little time if I already have everything out and ready to use.

And I like my frozen dinners better than most in the store

When we're alone the food disappears so much more quickly! What you've described is the perfect scenario.

Thanks, too, for the tips ...

I'm single and I love to cook. I just had a pork rib roast I did on the BBQ. I make my own soups from scratch, grind my own meat, bake my own breads and cakes, make my own sausages, and roast my own coffee,

I never ate this well when I was married. An added bonus is that I'm eating healthier too, and have lost weight.

Yes, I'm single and I cook sorta:

Top Ramen with frozen veggies added and Velveeta cheese if I have it.

Tomato soup mixed with chicken noodle soup. Must use a little milk with this

    Tuna Helper with added peas.

Macaroni and Cheese in the box

Take a tortilla, ranch dressing, lunch meat like balogna or something, rice, Bacos, and bagged salad and roll it up.

Layer this: Rice, collards in a can, peas or frozen veggies, salad in a bag, ranch dressing, Bacos, and croutons. Can have meat if you want.

Cook this together: beef strips (fajita style), Carribean jerk seasoning, canned tomatoes. On a plate, add this on top of rice and add salad in a bag on top with ranch dressing.

My kids tell me that my food looks like vomit, but don't worry, it's just the ranch dressing and tomatoes that gives it that puky look

My Mom hated housework and cooking, She had 4 kids so those duties were passed unto us. My brothers and sister cleaned, cooked, gardened while my Mom did charity work at the local Catholic Church.

I don't regret it a bit. I've been single most of my life but when I find a woman that captivates me, I'm comfortable inviting her over for dinner.

I admit my tastes are somewhat extreme, but I'm cool with that and share it with anyone who cares to discuss things such as....

Thanks - I won't worry now, but to tell the honest truth, I was really getting into the meals until you brought up the vomit ...
