Loosie, they were told to finish out their year - the three started the pioneering all together - but they weren't able to sign back up for it for another year after that. None of them did and one eventually left the org.

We'll see how much compassion the GB has for the rank and file especially those that have to cover rural territories.
Gas is already $4.39 on average and and this morning seen it up to $4.75.
My daughter is pioneering and only works part time, we'll see how long she will last.

Think of it from a real believing dub's point of view. They truly believe they are doing God's work.
I believe the following will result due to higher gas prices:
-Car groups will drive straight to the territory and dilly dally along the way with trying to start their time at an RV first. (remember? closest RVs to the hall always got the Saturday morning wake up call).
-Driving from one end of the territory to the other for easy time, I mean Return Visits, will drop dramatically.
-service hours will drop; hardly any truly believing dubs will fudge their service report more than an hour or so
-placements will drop due to less RVs.
-The most popular form of face to face service will be the Bible Study.
-Internet, Email, Telephone, and informal witnessing at malls, parks, etc will quickly become major time earners.
In the end we'll see less hours, less placements, more focus on alternative witnessing methods.

The crisis won't affect the Mormons. They ride bikes.

Normal economics: As a commodity becomes more expensive, people will try and buy less of it.
Washtowel economics: As gas becomes more expensive, we are being tested. If we slow down, it will make Satan happy. If $7 a gallon gas causes us to not do as much field circus as when gas was $1, that makes Satan happy, even if we absolutely cannot afford the higher prices because of the crap jobs the witlesses are allowed.
No problem--it means fewer trips to Starbucks for coffee breaks. Hopefully, that means the poor waitress will be hearing less about the Washtowel doctrines and their petty nuances, and be getting fewer "tips" of wastes of paper.

I'd agree WTWizard except that the WTS already gave the dubs an out for complaining about the expense of gas with the letter on the bookstudy change.
The dubs are masters at alleviating their consciences while following the rules.

This will have an impact on JW's everywhere. They may not feel it at first, but it's gonna catch up.
I can see them cramming as many people as they can into the most efficient car possible. LOL
Maybe the WT can get special deals on Prius'?

Geez! Don't you guys get it! The whole reason they eliminated the book study was to save the friends' gas. So the gas that you would have used driving to and from the meeting is now available for Saturday, all morning long! Plus don't you remember the widow with the small jar of oil and flour that never ran out - that's what Jehovah will do for your gas tank! You know, as long as you don't miss any meetings and have all of your study articles highlighted.

"The gas you no longer use to drive to the Book Study can now be used for Field Service." Does this logic work?
First of all, they still have to drive to the KH on Saturday ... and then drive around town ... drive to McDonalds for break ... drive around town some more - make some RV ... drive back to the KH and then drive home. Compare that gas-saving strategy to just driving to a home book study that was a 5 minute drive from their house.
Doesn't work. In fact, it's worse! Thanks to the loving provisions of the GB!
