I see one of those "Smart Cars" around here sometimes. It really is a tiny car...if it does run out of gas you can probably just carry it home !

If you buy from an individual, offer them 1000.00 less than they are asking (at least). If you buy from a dealer, offer them 2000.00 less than they are reaming (at least, probably more. Do your research. They are likely trying to make between 3 to 5 grand on the car). No matter what, *act* firm, and if you have to deal upward, deal in small increments.
You may find this somewhat uncomfortable and difficult, but it will be the easiest money you ever make.

wha happened?
I was thinking of buying a smart car and using it to replace my spare tire.

best car deals I ever made I prepared for by doing research on edmunds.com - you can find a ton of info on there to help you decide what would suit you best, and you can see what's on offer at local dealerships, and you can figure out on that website what you ought to pay for whatever car you see that you are interested in. Then just print out the offer and take it to the dealer. Keep saying that's the car I want and this is what I want to pay. Then the only thing is to make sure about the interest and the term of the note.

Get yourself a used Toyota corrolla, 4 cylinder, auto. They are plenty peppy, and good on gas. Get a 4 door, in case you decide to go back to the truth. No, really, a 4 door is easier to get in and out of in the back seat.
Stay away from deisel. It may be better on gas, but don't forget, you are payng over a buck more per gallon for your deisel fuel. So, are you saving much? I think not.

We just bought a new car ..in fact our very first brand new purchase . We got a Chevrolet HHR and love it . Gas mileage is over 30 highway and 28-30 in town . It has the look of retro -wagon /panel truck . Very roomy , has a sunroof and is peppy . We were looking for used , but the incentives to buy a 2008 were just to good over Memorial day sale.
Plan on driving it to Colorado for vacation at the end of this month hoping to save on gas over our other car .
