Okay Wings, I'm on gabbly now.
WINGS- " Stairway to Heaven " gets to me every time I listen to it. Makes me think seriously about all the times I've had in my life; good times and bad times. To me as Robert Plant stated in one live performance of it , it is a " song of hope ". So- I guess I like songs that not only make me feel sad- but also in the same breath, give me hope . Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
This one makes me cry a river...

Mahler's 5th Symphony. The first 3 movements build up to the crying part - the Adagietto (corny I know) - and then once you've bawled your eyes out, you get to Finale which picks you up again.
Saddest song I've ever heard...
Most any Hallmark commercial. Probably several on you-tube.

When my parents died 3 weeks apart I found myself needing to be by myself. I listened to this song over and over, it somehow made me feel better to shed tears.
Edited to add these from the same album:
Almost makes me cry that Bob Dylan does.
May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
Back when i lived in Florida, and was still trying to figure out the Armageddon scenario, and before I realized that the JW's were a lie, but new something was wrong. During this time period I was questioning the existence of God, and one song that always tore me up when hearing it was "dust in the wind". That verse "nothing lasts forever but the earth and stars" really tore me up, that plus the fact that I was 1000 miles away from home and separated from my wife.
