I just called my Neal's cell phone. He answered. He's in ICU still, weak, but he wanted to talk. He told me of the mortgage woes they have and how they must give up their humble home and move up to Taos to live with his son and his wife, who is a JW and a nurse. He sounds weak, but god how good it was to speak with him. I talked to him about JUlian and he said, "It sounds like Julian is living a normal life." Normal. Yet he spoke of the four horseman of the apocolypse and how they seem to riding these days. He even mentioned Obama and McCain and how they likely will not be able to undo this mess we are in.
Anyhow, I think unless he takes a turn for the worse, he will survive this. We all love him so much. He's just done neat things for us over the years. He used to record tapes for the kids with characters and sound effects. One of them was about Texas Red and the Lonesome Cattle Drive. He played most of the characters. He would have us come stay with him, the kids and me and he would take all of us to Taos, NM and Red River and give us money to spend in the tourist shops. We visited the Pueblo together and my son Jesse called the Indians there, who call themselves The Red Willow People, the Red Walking Dudes. Or they would take us to the Renaissance Games and fair. The kids would dress up. I might post some pics later and then take them down. So you can all see Neal and how handsome he was and still is.
