Comets also have ice
Good point. I forgot about that.
Does Europa have water-based ice? Or Titan? I don't think so but now I'm not so sure.

Yes, Europa is water ice. Titan has lots of methane, but I don't think there's much if any water in any state there.

Isn't this fascinating? This lead scientists to believe that Mars had an atmosphere suitable for habitation at one time. The trench is believed to have been caused by rivers a long time ago. I wonder what happened. Could this happen on earth? -

Oompa,
Some of our lives are not as exciting as yours. Some of us are bored to death over summer break from school, and another some of us are happily geeky. I'm both
I believe that everything out there affects all of our lives in some sort of way.
I'm terribly interested in astronomy and was the only one who stayed awake and asked questions out of all of my class. I got a 'B'.

NEVER allow yourself to be bored dammit! Be very glad your life may not be as exciting as mine is right now....you are young and have time to still do things right...I want to cram a lot into the time I have left. But to be bored it to not read a book, or write a song, or play an instrument....either one of those three ends boredom instantly...imo. I like geeky as most old trekkies do......and truly no insult implied or intended on the ice thing.....but as a trully, serious sci-fi nutcase....I need to see a purple, slimy, tentaclized creature crawling over and mating with the Mars robot camera! THEN I am REAL excited!!! haha..................oompa

Oompa,
Yeah, I see what you mean.
No, I wouldn't want your type of excitement (life situation), poor thing.
I sure do hope that I'm still young enough to get a career started in 2010 after very little work other than McD's and a brand new Masters. I'll graduate when I'm 41.
I just feel like it's too little too late.
Did I just highjack? Oops!

Maybe they messed with the wrong deity?

Now if they found two "Martian Witnesses" on Mars I would be impressed......"one day Mars will be a Paradise..."

Mars at one time had a magnetic field like the Earth, but since Mars is a lot smaller than the Earth it cooled much more quickly, and once it's molten interior cooled the planet stopped generating a magnetic field. With the magnetic field gone the Martian atmosphere was exposed to the solar wind and was slowly blown away. With little atmospheric pressure any liquid water would just boil away.
The same will eventually happen to the Earth if the Sun doesn't become a red giant before that happens.
