People who are control freaks are that way because they are terrified that if they STOP controlling everything, everything will crumble around them. So as long as they keep saying it like a mantra....then in their minds it remains true....but if they were to stop and say, "This is in Gods hands...and I will live my life in service to him and enjoy my life and my family which are the gifts He gave me" then the end wont be IMMINENT and they wont have that urgency any more that the Societys very existence depends on them having.

Remove the urgency...remove the reason for being a JW.

The reality is---JWs don't practice what they preach. IF the end was really really here, they'd do no more construction or any longterm planning for conventions, wills, estates, donations. Who cares what will happen 2 years from now if the end is upon us now? They are simply bullsh*tters.

I honestly don't know why I spent almost 30 years living this lie about the end. Personally, I never thought we could know if and when there was going to be an end. I never expressed that personal idea to anyone when I was in. Yet, I hung on for years in the belief that there was something better to come. The only thing better to come was my exit from the lie! I am humiliated that I believed in some form of this idea that the end was close for too damn long...and I went door to door with this stupid message! Yikes!

My mother looked like a stunned mullet when I reminded her that she was going on about the foolish young ones in our congregation who were getting married so close to Armageddon when I was 7 years old, quoting a scripture about suckling babies.

"How many of those girls are still suckling their babies? How many of their children are still suckling their babies?"

Her eyes glazed over. She tried to act like she couldn't remember.

I've been out since 83.

This is as bad as I have seen it in my life of 55 years.

I met with my Jw in laws for dinner tonight and told them to mark 2012 on their calender for the next Armegeddon it.

2012 is when the mayan calander runs out.

No one seems to be able to make any sense of this life.

So 2012 will be the next date to focus on.

I do realize that I am demented from being raised as a JW and focusing on the end of the world and having just drank a 12 pack of natural Ice.

I guess they just focus on choosing the next date. Of course, they blame the people that they misled into selling out when the prediction does not work out, telling them that they are serving with a date in mind.

This has been going on since the beginning of the washtowel slaveholdery, beginning with the very first washtowel. They were embarrassed in 1914. They moved the date a few years at a time, and then by 1925 they realized that they needed to reset the whole chronology. Ultimately, they tried again in 1941 and in 1975. This time, they are careful to keep the date uncertain but at "it could happen within a few months to two years".

If they try that 2014 crap, I am going to embarrass them again in 2015--and again in 2035 after 2034 goes bust.
