i remember studying the truth book with a well known old timer when I was 9. the picture of the generation of 1914 runs vividly in my memory..... well, it did not happend 1914+70 or 80? or 90?

When I hear of diehards screaming that we better get on the ark of salvation, I have to chuckle. How long will they cry wolf and expect persons to believe them? A good "watchman" would NEVER keep screaming false alerts. Otherwise he would be the bloodguilty one if trouble came.

The Watchtower has consistently cried wolf and then punished anyone for not accepting their false cries of destruction.

far-away look in their eyes that reminds
me of hanging with people too buzzed
to do more than rely on the autonomic
nervous system to keep their heart beating

they talk in a breathless reverence
about the "changes" that herald the
fast approach of the GT..... evidently
kool-aid editions of the WT ragazines
have a boatload of mojo....

the ones who cannot stomach it...

I not only chuckled, but guffawed the last time a JW relative tried to give me a lecture about how close to the end we were and I had better get right...

I told him that we would both die of old age or accident/sickenss and never live to see "the end". I named all the old elders and pioneers that we knew as kids and asked where they were now...dead, I had to remind him. Dead and they never saw "the end" that had been promised. Now my parents and his parents are old and will not live to see "the end". And we're not young...it's been over forty years of "the end is right around the corner" just in our lifetime. Imagine the old folks in their 70s and 80s. That's all they've ever heard...and they'll die a miserable death because their dreams were unfulfilled.

I have to kick myself when I really start to think about this subject. To be told that we'll live forever and never die and actually believe it...how stupid can you be? No one, not one person has cheated death...what the hell gives us the audacity to think that we're something so special so as to not have to accept reality. JWs are a delusional bunch of people when it comes to this particular part of their faith. And that's why they're not humiliated...they're delusional. It's only when you get over yourself and realize you were wrong that you become humiliated.

Isn't it refreshing to know, we're not that sheltered and "delusional" as we get older and wiser?
