    Is there a middle ground?

YES. There are exJW's that don't like to be known as ex.
There are exJW's that don't care for JWD or for any chatrooms.
There are exJW's that live their own way. I knew of plenty of
DF'ed or DA'ed folks that just lived their life.
There are exJW's that come to my monthly meetup that are in
the middle ground. Some stayed away for years and many don't
really discuss doctrine. They come occasionally because they
are shunned, or because they have some issues, or because they
know people there don't need things explained to them. But many
don't carry a chip on the shoulder- some do.

There are exJW's in all states of recovery/moving on with life.

I think there would always this fear that an ex-jw may go back.

    I agree with Hope4Others

I think that a lot who never find "The Truth about the WT" still think it's THE Truth" even if they choose to ignore it and there is always a chance that they'll go back.

Either that or they become fatalistic, "well I might as well enjoy myself cos I'm gonna get destroyed at Armageddon anyway . . ."

Middle ground - not sure. I'm not sure you can have it if you don't know the truth about the WT.

I agree you don't have to do the apostafest stuff tho . . .

There were 5 of us kids, all ex's now.

    I'm the only active apostate.

The rest are just worried that i'm here too much.

My little brother used to post here some.

"for me I no longer want to associate with Ex-JW's." And yet, you're still here! Methinks you do protest too much.

Yes, I do believe in a middle ground! Some of us just enjoy the camraderie and comfort of being around those who have been through some of the exact same things that we have. A common bond if you will...

It's a combination of being an internet addict and an exjw. Non exjws who are not internet addicts are the Organzations favorites.

Not everyone is as geeky as us.

I was out for 25 and never gave much thought to anything JW.
As a matter of fact, I would go out of my way to avoid any
    contact whatsoever.

I've been an active internet user since the old "Mosaic" days.
That's when access was expensive and very geeky. Al Gore hadn't
    "invented" it yet. LOL

Never did any research with regards to Witnesses or any type of religion.
Didn't even care about any of the why's.

That changed when I finally convinced my father (a long time JW) that the
internet was safe and he didn't have to look at porn.
He asked me one day if I had ever Googled Jehovahs Witnesses.
My answer was "No I haven't" and I couldn't think of a reason why.

So I did. That was only a few weeks ago. I read Ray Franz's two books
and have ordered some additional information. My eyes were finally opened
    after all these years.

It's all due to my dad. I'm sure if he knew it was he that opened
the floodgate of real truth (apostate) to me he would freak!!!

I am here largely to slap Jehovah in the face and to help ruin the Washtowel Slaveholdery.
